  1. It is a big mystery to me. I was using the move tool in version 2 using Affinity Photo where I created the file. I chose to edit in Affinity Designer because no matter what tool I selected I wasn't shown the option of converting to art text while having the text box selected. I found the same menu options in Affinity Designer. No option to convert to art text. I tried to make a screen cap but the pull-down would stay live when I activated my screen capture. I waste way too much time trying to figure out why it isn't showing. Maybe it is a Windows issue. I also always use the top drop-down layer menu.
  2. Once again the option to convert to art text has disappeared from every one of these programs.
  3. That is where I was checking sadly. I only checked using a right-click because I had read to do that here. Thanks for your feedback and for sharing your expertise.
  4. Of course, now I go and check again and I have the option to convert to art text from the layers menu. I must be crazy because I checked this about 20 times and the option wasn't there.
  5. I am using the latest version of the software. Because I won't share my private document. I will tell you my process. I created frame text and then continued working on other elements in my photo. I put some effects on my text and then wanted to convert it to artistic text. I was using Photo so I expected that was the reason I could not find that option from the drop-down layers menu was that it won't available with Photo. The text options are limited. I chose to edit in Designer and I was shown the same menu without the option to convert to artistic text. I had the same result when I chose to edit in Publisher. The only option I get when I right-click is to convert to text frame which is grayed out because it is already framed text. I am not working with a pixel layer or a vector. I am using a text frame. While writing this I am double checking to make sure that it is all accurate.
  6. The document I created in photo would not show me that option when I chose to edit in Designer or Publisher. I knew I had used that feature before but it wasn't available to me with my document for some reason.
  7. None of the Affinity programs convert from frame text to art text. We go mental trying to figure out the sense in this program. It is lacking so much!!!!
  8. Thanks. My defaults were accepted and now when I open a new document it is set for my preferred working language.
  9. Saving a new default works. Unfortunately, that has to be done with every new document. Not ideal.
  10. I did save a new default and it didn't change what Affinity does with new documents. They go right back to my location defaults rather than my preferred American English.
  11. There doesn't seem to be a solution for any platform. Affinity Publisher is useless when it comes to allowing language defaults. Affinity will default to a language it doesn't automatically install the language packs for. This has been a constant issue ever since I installed this program 2 1/2 years ago. Is Serif content with how much frustration they pass on to their customers?
  12. Thanks. I had to use a second text frame for my project. I didn't realize all word processors worked like this. I've never run into this before. At least there is always a way to proceed.
  13. Thanks. I didn't explain the issue very well. My sentence is not at the beginning of the text frame. I want to insert some spaces at the beginning of a line that is mid-paragraph. I go to the beginning of the line, place my cursor there then press the space bar nothing happens. The text doesn't move. If I move my cursor to the text beside the text at the beginning of the line I can then insert spaces with my spacebar, just not at the beginning of the line. It is the first character that is anchored there unless I press enter or delete.
  14. I can not insert a space at the beginning of the line in my text frames. Inserting spaces with the the text file menu is cumbersome and very very problematic due to inconsistencies in the results. This should be the simplest thing in the world and is with any text editor I have used. No dice with Affinity Publisher. I am kicking myself for spending so much time learning this so that I could teach others but I'm having a hard time recommending this software because of all the unresolved issues.
  15. Thanks, Old Bruce. I would never have determined that. I don't know how I did that. That must be the issue.
  16. I have two layers that are responding differently to the same overlay. Both of these layers are black on transparency. I am using the color dodge blend mode. One of the drawings turns dark pink and the other turns white when I place the rectangle over it. I can't make any sense out of this. I have attached the designer file for anyone who cares to take a look. what am I not able to see here 2.afdesign
  17. It does work better working with a rasterized image. My issue is the visibility of the marching ants—just one of those things.
  18. I am embedding a drawing into my file and removing the parts I don't want. It is a simple drawing. I have used threshold on it, so it is solid black and white. I select all of the black and delete the parts I don't want. While it appears that I have deleted all the excess it keeps reselecting parts that are otherwise invisible. After several attempts, it appears as though as though I have isolated the part of the drawing I want. I select the black with the magic wand tool and it shows only the area I want to keep until I zoom into the screen tremendously close only to see more marching that were invisible and not showing up the same way as the other marching ants. That makes for pretty unproductive editing. It is not difficult to have invisible selections with the Affinity apps. It happens all the time. This is the first time I have seen part visible and part invisible.
  19. I have the top row highlighted in my table. I want to reduce the height of this row. Publisher will not allow it. I use the arrow keys to enlarge the height in the table panel and it will not change. It is somehow locked. You are really lacking help in your help pages. Update. I have discovered that using the baseline grid will limit the ability to reduce the height of a single row within the table.
  20. That is amazing Carl. You solved the problem for me. I didn't know that option existed. Thank you so much it was all fixed in an instant.
  21. Thanks, Carl. Find and replace doesn't work because Affinity Publisher does not see the font in question. I can replace it with any font in the font manager but the search within find and replace will not pick it up. This isn't an adequate fix because it is filled with errors. I can't search for a missing font, there is no way to reference it.
  22. Thanks for being so clear. No wonder I'm confused. The documentation for preflight says the fixes are supposed to actually fix the preflight error. Preflight continues to flag the error after the fix. Even though it has replaced the font. Affiinity is not recognizing that the font is actually replaced. When highlighting the font it still shows in the character panel as being the previous font. When I create assets out of this PDF the asset panel is full of errors because it is flagging a font that isn't even being displayed. I have to make sure I manually change every single instance where the flagged font was used. There should be a streamlined way to take care of this but it escapes me. I haven't been able to use find and replace for this either.
  23. Thanks, Mike. Unfortunately, none of this tells you how to make the font manager actually replace the missing font with the new font that is chosen. So all I can tell is that the font manager is useless, complete and utterly useless.
