John Kay got a reaction from walt.farrell in Hyperlinks
Thank you Walt, having taken the trouble to read the whole topic here I've managed to get it right, something I should have done in the first place.
here's the amended file which does work, thank goodness.

John Kay got a reaction from Leigh in App Installer failed to install package dependencies (split)
Thank you Leigh, that did the trick beautifully, it installed right away and is running now.
Thanks again

Books are still more popular for reading and are still generally preferred by most readers to reading from a screen. DTP programs today need to cover all the traditional requirements of paper book publishing. This market won't go away. The best program that copes properly with all its requirements, with all its faults and shortcomings is PagePlus X9. It is still working as well as it ever did and I wouldn't be without it. It is a crying shame that Serif have washed their hands of it and have not seen fit to incorporate all of its excellent qualities in Publisher.

John Kay got a reaction from R C-R in why can't I drag jpg files into affinity publisher assets when on Windows 10?
Aa long as the arrow points downwards both seem to work for me, from the page or from an explorer window.

John Kay reacted to thomaso in File hyperlinks to relative path not generated on pdf
If a file path works in a browser window isn't it RFC compliant? – Not sure if I misunderstand but doesn't the list of RFC compliant include any protocol which works for e.g. USB sticks?
I assume the volume name of the USB-stick will be known when creating the .afpub, right?
To me a test with a file "amphibian car 1.jpg" on an USB stick "FAT_84e" and this path
file:///Volumes/FAT_84e/amphibian%20car%201.jpg appears to work in an exported PDF without adding the file on export as being copied. It doesn't use APub's default separator \ but uses / instead and has "%20" added for space characters in the file name.

I am now getting to grips with Publisher and I appreciate the extra fine adjustment that it provides although the help file still needs a lot of work.
I think that the requests for foot/end notes are well justified, a request still not satisfied after three years is unlike the tradition the Serif used to uphold, I know, I've been with them from the start of PagePlus. Many of my books need this as a matter off course, I've tried using pinned text boxes but the result is not pretty and of course is not self-adjusting.
Let's have these please , and the sooner the better.
