  1. Thanks for sharing!
  2. Hello Chris, Yes, it does smooth it but not enough. There is still visible staircase pixels that are pretty visible from 100% point of view. I made another video to be more clear about the issue. demonstration.mp4
  3. Feathering of 0,5 px, 1 px still shows visible jagging, and 2px almost removes the jagging but it becomes too soft. You can check the attached file and reveal hidden layers of the feathering tests. mineral.afphoto
  4. More consistency is what I want using freehand tool with anti aliasing enabled, the feather option helps a bit but the jagged parts are still visible.
  5. Yes, it actually does have some anti aliasing using the freehand tool on some parts of the selection but not to the point where I would use it.
  6. You didn't understand what I meant, I was pointing that I used 100% view and also zoomed in to look at it, and there is a clear difference between me using the freehand tool and polygonal. @iconoclast is suggesting stuff that doesn't work for us who wants this feature, and by him saying: try this and that to fix the issue where it doesn't really fixes it may lead the developers to ignore this altogether.
  7. In the video, I clearly showed it both in 100% and also zoomed in to show that it is still jagged in 100%, and even if I export the document into an image looking at it in 100% will clearly still look jagged. Using feathering or smoothing options will not make the selection sharp and may shrink and change the selection and even if it worked it will still take a couple of steps to adjust it for the desired result. And no I don't want to use Affinity Designer because I have to buy it and also the art that I would make will not only be just vector. Why are you trying so hard to avoid fixing this issue for?
  8. In Affinity Photo using brush tool to draw a stright line is inconvenient because if you left mouse clicked it will not draw the dot on the document not until you hold off pressing the Left Mouse Button, and that makes drawing a stright line harder, because you have to move the cursor one pixel at least then the dot will be drawn and now we can press shift to make it into a stright line. And if you hold shift first and then left mouse clicked or if you left mouse clicked then hold shift without moving 1 pixel it will draw a connection from your last mouse position. In Photoshop you only have to hold left mouse and it will draw the dot immediately and that makes it easier to draw in a Stright line. ------------- Tested on Windows 10 Affinity version 1.10.1.1142 Using a normal mouse
  9. Using the freehand antialias doesn't seem to give it proper smoothing, I see clear staircase results after I fill the selection, while the Polygonal type seems that it has been implemented correctly. Also while using the freehand tool and try to draw fast the selection gets smoother (You have to draw extremely fast to get these smoother results!). Furthermore, using the freehand tool using a Pen Tablet makes the selection smoother vs a Mouse. When I use the Polygonal type to get a circler shape you can see that it has smoother selection in the video. BTW going in Mouse Properties in Windows 10 and turning the Enhance pointer precision doesn't change anything. ------------- Tested on Windows 10 Affinity version 1.10.1.1142 I have tested with Hardware Acceleration on & off Issue with freehand.mp4 mineral.afphoto
  10. Furthermore, I tested both the Freehand and Polygonal types once with Antialias off and once with Antialias on The Freehand doesn't seem to get any Antialias smoothing whether it was on or off while the Polygonal does, could this be a bug? When I use the Polygonal to get a circler shape you can see that it has smoother selection in the video. BTW going in Mouse Properties in Windows 10 and turning the Enhance pointer precision doesn't change anything. ------------- Tested on Windows 10 Affinity version 1.10.1.1142 Using a normal mouse Issue with freehand.mp4
  11. Yes, I also got the same issue as the OP's.. The freehand tool is pretty good when you want to make fast drawings in any shape you need, and many concept artists use it. I re-produced the fast drawing and the Mouse vs Tablet Pen issue. Though I had to draw as fast as I could to get these results maybe in like half second or less. I have Antialis enabled for these tests.
