  1. I have the same problem. I am using Affinity 10.5.1342, a W11 pro opsys, high end Ryzen 12 core CPU workstation with DDR4 3200 Mhz memory, Superast M2 SSD's, NVIDIA RTX3060 GPU, with Open CL Acceleration checked. The problem is acute when manipulating Panoramic collations. The metrics show the GPU rarely gets above 20% load, but it just continues on (high fan noise which indicates the GPU is actually processing something, but obviously not concluding). I took your hint and unchecked the Open CL Acceleration and like you, had no further issue. Also, it processed faster without the CL Acceleration. Thanks for the advice. Hopefully this does not foretell the end of Affinity complying with GPU standards. Ian
  2. I agree whole heartedly, that the Affinity photo interface is not the best, some things are simple, but some things like rotate a couple of degrees are mysterious and not in the least intuitive. The learning curve for Photoshop was infinitely quicker. However I have stuck with Affinity because PS has become so bloated that its a dog when you have a lot of work to do. Affinity code is better. But the interface....Uggh!!!
  3. I am building a new PC to replace my Dell twin xeon Precision 5500. When I started with this rig in 2012, my average file size was 12mb. Currently it is nearer 50mb, and for HDR and Photomerge much greater. I have analysed several requirements, as I don't just use Affinity Photo, but also Photolab DXO (superior noise management on night time shots), as well as a rapidly declining usage of Photoshop which though capable and familiar is full of bloatware and getting slower by the day. Most of my work is for government, including structural installations, roads, improvements etc. This can involve a lot of shots. So speed of processing has become somewhat important. I had a look at the user forum, and I gather that AMD built GPU's are not as favoured as NVIDIA architecture (which is fair enough). And I note a tendency to favour Intel CPU's. However, I think I will build on the AMD Ryzen as this current generation has some superior characteristics to the Intel i9, and I will select the NVIDIA architecture for my GPU but my major investment will be in integrating the components on a fast motherboard and superfast memory. It is currently being built for me, and I hope to have it in a couple of weeks. Here is the spec: (Any critical comments on my choice is welcomed). Will let the forum know the outcome in due course. Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 GAMING CARBON WIFI Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12 Core Processor Memory: 2 x 16GB (2*8GB) ADATA XPG SPECTRIX D50 RGB DDR4 3200MHz Tungsten Grey Graphics Card: ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 3060 12GB Super-Fast SSD Drive: 1TB (7000MB/5000MB R/W) Samsung 980 PRO Gen4 PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD Fast SSD 1: 2TB (560MB/530MB R/W) Western Digital WD Blue 2.5" SATA III SSD Fast SSD 2: 2TB (560MB/530MB R/W) Western Digital WD Blue 2.5" SATA III SSD RAID: RAID 1 (Mirror) Power Supply: Antec HCG850 850W 80+ Gold Fully-Modular PSU Cooling: ASUS ROG Strix LC 240 Liquid Cooler
  4. I am so sorry to be a pain. But when Affinity get so much feedback about so simple a topic as rotating a picture, I despair. Photoshop set this up 25 years ago. You just enter the rotate selection and dial in the + or - degrees you want to rotate. Affinity is such a pain on some levels and so good on others. But this is a pain point for me. Just for goodness sakes make this feature for simple and stupid people like me, easy!!!!!
