  1. Hi everyone,

Is there a way to mask effects in AF Photo? In Photoshop you can put FX onto a layer of their own then add a mask to them. Can you do something similar to this in Affinity? If not is there a workaround?

I've come up against this problem a few times now. I've added rim lighting (inner glow) to a person standing in front of the moon, but I want to brush the effect away  from the person's feet and a couple of other areas of the body. Even better would be to invert the effects and then paint them back on exactly where I need them.

I've given up my photoshop subscription and got so desperate recently when working on something for a client that I painted on the rim lighting exactly where I wanted it then added a small amount of gausian blur to try to achieve the effect. Naturally this was far more time consuming than FX and a simple mask would have been.

I've even thought about duplicating the layer of the person, adding the inner glow to one layer then masking one of the layers on a low opacity where I don't want the effects, but again this seems quite long-winded. Am I missing something? I have wondered if I'm making this more complicated than it needs to be. TIA.
