I'm trying to figure out how to resize a selection marquee. For instance, the selection is 1182px and I want to resize it to 1080px. Is this option buried somewhere in the UI?

Perhaps it would be better not to store IP addresses or location data in the first place?  Especially not for months like in the below page.

DrainBead reacted to Patrick Connor in Forum Security Alert: Important Information for All Forum Users
This is a copy of the recent announcement made by Ash. This thread is unlocked so you you can ask about this incident
    To all our forum members,
Unfortunately we have become aware that personal data relating to users of these forums may have been accessed from outside the company following a cyber attack on 6 April 2023. It appears that an administrator’s account was compromised, allowing access to our forum members list.
    What data was accessed?
The data which may have been accessed is what is on your public forum profile (e.g. username, post count, reputation, joining date, etc.), but additionally includes your Email Address and Last Used IP Address which would ordinarily be private. Thankfully we can be sure it would not have been possible to access your forum account password so that has definitely not been compromised in this breach.
What information is available on your public profile depends on what you have previously given. You can view your profile by logging in to your account and clicking on your avatar in the top right-hand side.
Please be reassured that any information accessed does not include any financial data, purchase history, physical addresses, phone numbers or anything else held within your main Affinity account / AffinityID. The forum is a standalone system which is completely separate from your Affinity account.
We cannot tell what proportion of our forum members’ email addresses were accessed so we are making all members aware as a precaution.
We have reported this incident to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as well as taken immediate steps to make the forum system more secure to avoid this type of attack in future.
    What should you do?
We do not think you need to do anything, other than be mindful that this happened and to follow general advice around email and online account security.
One thing to be particularly diligent with is possible email “phishing” attempts. This will be when someone contacts you pretending to be us, requesting you change your password or give other account information to them. If you are concerned about any email being legitimate, don’t click any links in the email. If you wish to update any of your forum account details type forum.affinity.serif.com into your browser and log into your account from there to be sure.
Generally, if you do receive any suspicious email which you think could have originated via this breach (for example if an email you receive addresses you by your forum username) please let us know.
If you wish to make any such reports or have any further questions, then please contact us at dataprotection@serif.com. Full details of Serif’s Privacy Policy are available on our website https://affinity.serif.com/privacy/.
As well as this forum announcement we are notifying all forum members about this via email.
Customer data security is something we take extremely seriously and, while cyber attacks are an unfortunate reality of doing business today, we are incredibly sorry that your data may have been accessed in this way.
    Sincerely,
Ashley Hewson (Managing Director) & Patrick Connor (Data Protection Officer)

Glad I am able to use Affinity Photo 2 again and thanks so much for your assistance.

I will add my voice to the noise - I've started to come across AVIF more and more lately especially for HDR, other participants have presented many strong reasons to develop this, while WEBP is nice, it doesn't do HDR so it's less than ideal for some of us.
Please don't let this fall on deaf ears, it's important for a lot of us.

Seems we have to fallback to gimp to create AVIF images while at the same time having payed for Affinity Photo and not being able to use it :(

Safari has decided to support the AVIF image format in the future.
    The official WebKit page says:
"Added support for AVIF images on macOS Ventura and iOS 16"
The major web browsers, Chrome and Firefox, already support the AVIF image format.
AVIF is even more compressed than WebP, so it is expected to be a very important file format for web authors.
The AVIF export feature of Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer has become a very high priority.

Would be great to see publishing to AVIF supported in Affinity Photo. Along with browsers, seeing that service providers (storage, CDNs, etc.) are adding support for AVIF delivery, as well...

Corel's PSP, do not support AVIF format. However done a quick interwebs search and learned that DigiCam and Gimp both do support it.

Hi. I'm beginning to see avif files accumulate across multiple projects and this is really starting to impact worflows.  This is rapidly becoming necessary-to-have and not nice-to-have. Please consider making avif support a higher priority.
    Appreciate your work very much.

Support for avif would make a lot of sense for affinity photo due to it already having an ability to master images in 10 bit HDR. Avif seems to be the first image format with 10 bit hdr that isn't encumbered by patents and is aimed to be a full mainstream jpeg replacement with support from tech giants and already deployed in many large platforms.
i've trialed affinity photo twice in the past and have yet to buy it. If it gets avif support soon enough, it might become the first app to support sensible HDR 10 PQ image workflow, and I'd definitely buy it and use it.

The slow start time after a computer restart is an Apple security problem (on OSes 11 and 12) with Affinity applications from the Mac App Store. Affinity and Apple are aware of this and trying to get it fixed.
The crashes I can't help with.

No, AV1 is used for video, AVIF is an image format based on the same encoder.

I am also very keen to see AVIF export available in Affinity Photo. If supported, it would be the easiest way to author AVIF files currently, and if AVIF HDR image export from 32 bit documents was also supported, not only would it be an awesome timesaver, it would probably increase the adoption of HDR image and video support on the web.

I have spent the last 8 hours building a pipeline to generate HDR AVIF files using a combination of strict input file requirements and command line tools - if this could be replaecd with a simple export dialog, that would be a gamechanger.

CloudFlare just announced that they will be supporting this format and it looks like it's going to be widely adopted by browsers much quicker than the failed Webp format.

Affinity needs to lead the market and get support for this built in first.

    Hello,
Support for the AVIF file format would be nice to see as web browsers will start supporting it. It would be nice to read and write images in that format.
    Best regards!

Thanks for the in-depth description. Hopefully, Affinity will eventually consider metadata beyond the limited capability of display, only. Being able to add (and edit) Copyright info, a Copyright URL, specific Rights Use info, etc. is a key aspect of any workflow involving the potential for on-line posting of images. For now I guess I'll have to stick with Photoshop.

Thanks very much for your confirmation. I think that, unfortunately, the lack of metadata support will ultimately prove to be a deal breaker for Affinity Photo within my workflow. It'd sure be nice to know whether or not metadata support is even on Affinity.serif's radar. Can't imagine why it has been somehow overlooked to this point.
