page scroll speed with mouse wheel
TheSwede replied to Paolo192's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
I want to increase the scroll speed in any of affinity applications, it's too slow, too lazy. How to do this now 2022? -
Yes, Lagarto, my apologies, "se_SE + se-SE" was a typo here, it's named "sv_SE" on both computers… And we also checked how he wrote/spelled the "Spelling" folder on his computer, it's correct written and spelled and the complete "sv_SE" folder has been dragged into /Users/his user account/Library/ where he had to type his user password to allow this.

Thanks again Lagarto, many good points there but also again, now we're one more time getting into "programming skills" to get this fixed (we should not forget this is not an issue what I know is present in other DTP applications). The folder is named "se_SE" on both computers, not "se-SE"… So should we say this is a simple bug which must be fixed by the developers of this software, not for us to fix as users whatever country we're living in? Or do Affinity proclaim "this software will only work in English, Spanish and 5 or 6 more languages..."?

Thanks Lagarto, that's correct, I just tested to update here on my machine to 1.10.1 and as you say – the added Swedish dictionary in ”/Applications/Affinity Publisher.app/Contents/Resources/Dictionaries” disappears immediately! Hm, why doesn't it work on his machine to place the files on in the path ”/Users/<your user account>/Library/Spelling"? I see this as a bug/or a very weak part of this software. Do the developers know about this and do they have a plan to get it fixed?...Btw, on my machine it works well both in Mojave and Catalina (I can boot to whatever/different disks).

Update: When doing the same on my dad's computer (copying the sv_SE folder/files to ”/Users/<your user account>/Library/Spelling" the hyphenation did not work. We tried it again and again, restarted the computer, ran the Disk Utility First Aid etc etc, didn't work no matter what and we both are using the same operating system, Catalina 10.15.7. After this, to try something else which might seem a bit logical, we looked where AP’s ”original” language/dictionary files — de-DE & en-GB & en-US & es-ES & fr-FR & it-IT & la & pt-BR — were located and found the path ”/Applications/Affinity Publisher.app/Contents/Resources/Dictionaries” were we also copied the gitHub ”sv_SE” folder/files. And now the hyphenation worked also on his computer.

Dear Lagarto, this was easy to understand for me and solved the issue (= I had no "sv_SE" installed in Mojave or Catalina by default so I downloaded from your link and copied it to the "/Users/<your user account>/Library/Spelling" and now it works). Thank you so much. Wouldn't it be good if this could be installed/included in the application (Affinity Publisher) directly when we buy it, as downloading/following links to "github" is not very easy for everyone; I'm trying to help my dad (81 years of age and wisdom) with this and "github"/manually open by default hidden folders in Mac OS etc is no superb option for him.

Thanks Walt, I actually don't understand anything what to do there. I can not understand what to eventually download. I'm on a Mac. I tried this: "System Preferences > Keyboard > Text and select Set up... from the Spelling drop down menu. Please check the required language if available. If it is, check the required language and restart Affinity Publisher for the dictionary to appear within the app." For me, nothing changes in Affinity after I did that. And this I don't understand at all, in particular the red text: "Once you have done this the language should become available to select from the Spelling drop down menu in System Preferences > Keyboard > Text. Once you've checked the required language, restart Affinity Publisher for the dictionary to appear within the app. Hyphenation dictionaries can also be installed in a similar way but they must be installed into a subfolder. Navigate to ~/Library/Spelling/ as above and create a subfolder with a name in the format of xx-XX ( substituting xx-XX for the locale id ). The dictionary comes as a single file with a name in the format hyph_xx_XX.dic - this file should be copied to the subfolder. Now restart Affinity Publisher for the dictionary to appear within the app."

Thanks Walt, no I have not as I didn't know this was needed/how to do it. I will now check your info about that… 2 minutes later: may seem a bit complicated for a person coming from Adobe Indesign and all the other DTP applications through a lot of years? Thanks again anyways! I will try to read the info again now…
