  1. As far as I know you need to copy (objects on the) pages spread by spread. You will need to insert blank pages in the target document first. If you use a master page it needs to exist in the target document as well. If you can limit the size of the source documents it is manageable.
  2. About number 5, center objects tool: when centering an object you can specify the alignment mode, just pick page. Publisher seems to keep that setting until you change it again. Even when you quit publisher, it keeps the setting. Really nice about 5 bis: layers per spread!
  3. I think you must have made a mistake somewhere. Publisher doesn't handle master pages the way most of us expect. Probably that got you off on a bad track. Try creating a new document and add some objects to the first page. Then insert some pages and copy the objects of the first page to any of the other pages. It works fine in my version. You can also duplicate pages from the pages panel. They will be inserted after the page you're duplicating. The objects on the duplicated pages will be unique anyway. You can edit them without changing anything else.
  4. Well, having objects snap to columns in a text frame still makes sense to me, regardless of the possibility to connect a column grid to a spread or master page. But indeed, it would be less of an issue.
  5. When I want to change from the master page to a page in the document, I always end up at the first page displayed. Once I double-click the page again, it will display in my window. Even when I select the option 'go to spread' I get the first page in my document. This is about build 128
  6. What I find annoying is that the snapping does not seem to work on the columns in a text frame. I've activated all options in the snapping manager, but objects don't snap to the columns in a text frame. Seems like a must have to me. Or am I missing something here? If snapping would work as expected, one can use a text frame to set up the guides on the master page, or use a (empty) text frame as a snapping guide on the fly.
  7. Indeed, text frames can have specific baseline grids now. But my remarks remain: it makes no sense to have a toggle to turn the document baseline grid on or off. It is still overly complicated and makes no sense at all. It seems that display/hide for a baseline grid of a text frame is not possible, by the way. So indeed, let's ask Affinity to remove the baseline grid toggle and move the baseline manager to the document setup... About snapping to the baseline grid, that works fine in Publisher: if you turn the option on in the snapping options, any object drawn on the page will snap to the baseline grid. Of course if you turn the baseline grid option for the whole document off, it won't work anymore. It is perfectly logical, but it doesn't make sense from a user perspective. That's exactly why the baseline grid toggle should not be there. In a way it make sense to never be able to turn the baseline grid of your document on or off. If you don't want to use it, don't activate it on paragraphs, styles, snapping or text frames... Cheers, Wim
  8. @NNois and @tariq you can use assets to achieve what you need. Drag a picture frame on a page, add a caption and title to it. Finetune it, then make it into a group and give it a name in the Layers panel. Then add the selected group to your assets. Now you can simply drag the asset on a new page and fill in the 'blanks'. Use asset categories to keep track of these reusables. Of course more enhanced 'page templates' would be nice. But maybe that's what @Seneca refers to with 'at least at the moment'. A tip for the staff: add page numbering to the master pages tutorial video. I was surprised the tutorial didn't mention this feature of the master pages. I also wonder why the section name can't be insert in the master page... (that can be solved by creating a master page for each section of course, but that is less flexible)
  9. @JGD I think most of my assumptions remain valid. But indeed, we should add support for baseline on a text-frame: - Baseline grid can also be managed from a text-frame perspective. This still means the baseline grid manager-button on the top toolbar makes no sense. It should be a pane in Studio > Text Frame (and a global setting in the spread setup, keeping two levels for baseline grid management)
  10. @Aammppaa no, on the Mac version it says 'Balance columns'. As obviously it does on Windows as well.
  11. @Aammppaa then the label of the option should not say 'Balance columns' but 'Balance text'. It may help prevent confusion in this area. At least that's what I see on my macOs version.
  12. I don't think the baseline should extend beyond the margin when the users selects the option relative to 'top of margin' (I prefer 'relative to margins' by the way). When we want objects to snap to the baseline grid, they should not extend beyond the margins when we create the baseline grid relative to the margins. So I completely agree with Loquos.
  13. I agree that the baseline button as it is implemented now, doesn't make much sense. A baseline grid is most likely a global document setting, so the baseline manager belongs in the document, spread, master-ages area. That's where I would like to manage my baseline grid. Having my tools snap to the baseline grid is something I like to use in a flexible way. So to me it makes sense to have a button to switch it on or off in the top toolbar. But I can imagine that others prefer a switch to turn other snapping options on or off: guides, margins, spreads, objects... It would fill up the toolbar pretty soon. So better to keep the snapping option as the are now with the magnet button. Simply remove the two baseline grid buttons because... - baseline grid should be managed from a document perspective - baseline should be define in paragraph styles - snapping to the baseline grid belongs in the snapping options. While we're discussing the baseline grid, why is displaying the baseline grid not an option in the view menu? We need to switch visibility from the baseline grid manager. That doesn't make sense when you want to change the view on you document. Also when I want my baseline grid relative to the margins, I prefer it being displayed/active only inside the margins...
  14. Hey, it turns out that in 1.5 it almost works as expected. The alt/option key will select objects below the one currently selected. Using shift will add to your current selection. Really nice in most situations! Alas when subsequently trying to add more objects to the selection, the top object will become deselected. I'm afraid this is a bug. The alt/option key should always select objects below the selection, not on top. This way one can only select 3 objects at most. And it takes much longer than it should. A neat trick I learned in this video though, is that you can use cmd/ctrl to select elements in groups or compounds. Moreover this works with shift as well, making it possible to select elements in different groups/compounds. It should be possible to combine this with the alt/option key. But due to the bug, it won't work well.
  15. I think a lot of us would like that. The layers panel is pretty neat and works fine to keep track of things. But sometimes we just want simplicity. Like clicking with a modifier key pressed to select underlying objects. And use shift when we want to select multiple objects. Thanks, Wim
  16. Yes! Shift: keep original angle. Alt + Shift: snap to multiple of 15 angles. Cmd: keep bezier handles equal. We'll be able to combine equal bezier handles with anglesnaps (is that a word or is it a German beverage?)
  17. There is a shortcut to toggle the transform panel. But somehow it doesn't make the transform panel active. I would expect that it does. Because it would allow us to make transform changes directly from the keyboard without having to click on the transform panel first. There are a few other issues with the transform panel. When using the tab key, a field is selected as expected, but if I want to preform simple math on the value I can't position the cursor before or behind the value using the keyboard: using the left or right arrow keys increases the value! Strange indeed. Adding nudge distance in this panel would be a great timesaver as the preferences is not a good place to store something some of us change quite a lot. I also wonder why moving a duplicate with the nudge distance is not used in Power duplicate? Cheers, Wim
  18. Brilliant idea to put the nudge distance in the Transform Panel! A decent step and repeat option would be appreciated as well. Thanks for this great software, it looks promising. Looking forward to stop using AI.
  19. I really miss the possibility to set a unit and value for nudge distances.
  20. By the way, keeping the lock icon at the top-left of the Layers Panel would be appreciated, it is nice to lock a selection without having to select the layer first. Also adding the visibility icon at the top makes perfect sense.
  21. The two options for layers should be accessible from the layer label. Now there is a checkbox to show or hide a layer which is easy to work with. The lock functionality has to be accessed from the top of the panel. It seems more logical to have a locked/unlocked icon to enable or disable the lock state. Of course, having a closed/open eye for the visibility state would be nice in that case. PS: funny thing is that it is possible to unlock a layer by clicking the lock-icon. But you can't lock it clicking in the same spot...
  22. I admit that I had to check here to figure out how the colour picker works. That's bad! My suggestion is this: - Put the colour picker in the toolbar where it belongs (it is a tool) and add its own short-key (i ?) - Use the shift key to activate the magnifier - Clicking on a colour should apply that colour to selected objects immediately - 'Store' the selected colour in the tool icon on the toolbar for later use (double clicking the tool icon applies the colour to selected objects) - Add the functionality to copy all style properties (fill, stroke, gradient, filters) of an object (when pressing alt) - Add the functionality to copy typographic styles as well And also, create a smaller version of the line/fill selector so it fits in a single column toolbar.
  23. Using the history panel can be quite dangerous. If you select a step in your history and click in your document, all your future steps are lost (because you made a new selection, starting from the step you selected in the history). There is no way of getting them back as any undo action will start from the step you selected going backwards. I think the history panel should have it's own undo function. Moreover, but this may be regarded as a feature request: what I felt I should be able to do, is to remove a step, for instance the deletion of an object that I want to get back.
