I click on the clone tool. I move the circle to the area on my picture I want to copy, I push on alt & click & move the circle to the place I want to copy & it does nothing. it doesn't make sense.

A month we purchases Affinity for improving our photos. We have Window 10. This morning I was using the clone tool with no problems but this afternoon it will not copy. Is there a button I have pushed to cause the clone tool not to work? I turned off & on my computer but that did not help.
