  1. GraphicConverter for the Mac also supports viewing the Affinity Photo previews. I wrote a post on my blog about setting it up to open files from the browser in another program like Affinity Photo as there are a couple places in the preferences to specify a program.
  2. There is also an "External Editors for Photos" extension in the Mac App Store. The upcoming version of Photos in High Sierra is said to have support for editing in another program.
  3. The Affinity Photo roadmap mentions "Non destructive Develop Layer" so it looks like there will be more non-destructive options in the future.
  4. I'm also interested in doing a talk about Affinity Photo at my camera club sometime. I thought of showing one of the intro videos and come up with a demo, i.e. to show how the develop and photo persona work and some of the features it has. For me to do that I would have to put a trial version on another computer since I use Affinity Photo on a desktop computer. The Affinity Quick Reference is a good resource for Affinity Photo which provides links to the Affinity resources as well as other info.
  5. A comment about the latest version of GraphicConverter (now 10.3.1) is that it supports previewing Affinity Photo images in the Browser. (like those in the Finder)
  6. Pastor_Carlos I entered the text into a frame text tool in Affinity Photo to create my calendar. I mention above a bit of the process. Once I had something that worked I could use the calendar portion as a template to copy to new images and modify for the other months. pxls2prnt suggestion of using individual text boxes sounds good to get numbers lined up in a tabular format.
  7. You can find some additional resources for Affinity Designer and Photo at the Affinity Quick Reference.
  8. Thank you. It would be nice to have an ePub of the help like this available on the Affinity website as the program is updated.
  9. I noticed that this still occurs and found an issue as well when doing a panorama. The resulting image was the wrong orientation. I rotated, but when I exported it to a JPEG it was rotated back again. Affinity Photo 1.4.3.
  10. To add to the above, there is a less automatic way as well which allows you to freely rotate the image. Select the crop tool without switching to the straighten tool and then grab a point on the middle of one of the edges and rotate the picture.
  11. Straightening an image can be done using the crop tool. There is a video tutorial on how it can be done.
  12. Someone posted a social media template earlier that might be helpful. It is among some other Affinity resources here.
  13. Just wanted to add that it is working on my computer now with the Apple engine as well.
  14. There is a video on the extensions that begins with showing the process of setting them up for use. Note that the extensions work within Photos. If you want to take your pictures from Apple Photos to Affinity Photo you will need to export or use something like the "External Editors for Photos" extension
  15. Yes I can open them in Apple Photos. I have opened the files without a problem in other programs that I presume use Apple RAW engine (Acorn and GraphicConverter)
  16. If I open files with the Apple RAW engine I just get black. Photos are from Pentax K100D Super (PEF) and K-50 (DNG) cameras. I don't have a problem if I open with the Affinity engine, but wondering why switching to the Apple one doesn't work.
  17. The programs would add more and more if combined and there are more programs to come yet. While I only have Affinity Photo from what I understand the file formats were made to make the programs work together.
  18. I have a question do any of the programs allow something for entering text in a table like structure for something like my calendar? I didn't see anything in Photo, does Designer or would this be something more likely in the upcoming Publisher program?
  19. I did most of it entering the numbers by hand, though at the beginning I recall using Apple Numbers. Numbers has a template for calendars. I had to adjust things for size and formatting. After that I could copy a group of layers with the layout for the month and the semi-transparent layer into other images and edit the dates for each month.
  20. Last Christmas I created a calendar using a series of 4"x6" photos with the month on them using Affinity Photo. Below is the one from March.
  21. Digitoimisto GUR one place to learn some background is to read the Affinity Review magazines available on the website. I also find Affinity Photo an impressive program and the forum is a helpful place.
  22. For anyone looking for the link, it is listed in the menu from the main site or go to this page. I would also enjoy seeing another one.
  23. This topic has come up before and it has been mentioned that something is being worked on.
  24. I have also used Photoshop Elements. Affinity Photo may seem a bit more complicated at first, but Photo is worth trying. The features in it I would say are more flexible. One thing is that in Affinity Photo many of the adjustments are non-destructive and a history is kept so you change things back if you need to. If you take some time anything you have learned with Photoshop Elements will help you. Try the program and see what you can do.
