Rasterization did the trick. I discovered that…

The photo rasterizies on  “open,import from photo”

The photo does not rasterize using “menu,place photo”.

I used the smart brush to select just the sky. Then i duplicate selection to put it on a layer by itself. Ive gotten this to work  but seem to have problems getting it to work a second time. The dancing ants are still around the section i want. Sometimes im not happy with my selection after a duplicate selection so i will update my selection slightly. At this point it does not duplicate just my selected area. I have not been able to figure out a work around. I even unselect everything, and rebrush it. I even tried restarting the app, unselecting, reselecting, inverting, etc. nothing works.
 

So, “duplicate selection” seems to be just “duplicate”

[Crash when changing to tone mapping persona]

Affinity photo 2.1.1  crashes when I try to change from Photo to tone mapping persona. Ipad IOS = 16.6, Ipad pro 12.9”

file enclosed, saved with history. If i go to another persona before tone mapping it does not crash.

[Add extrusion into Affinity Designer]

I like the FX idea, makes sense. I guess one would then convert the extruded object to curves to allow customization of the extruded shapes.

Please add extrusion. it is extremely time consuming to create this manually, especially for multiple letters or complex objects

i would suggest the process be 

1. select text or object
2. extrude (depth being a parameter slider or number)
3. select, convert to curves
4. user then cutomizes the shadows, gradients, etc.

Would you be able to first try enabled 'Save History' when using Save a copy and attaching that file. Once you've done that if you go into the History Studio, tap the Studio Preferences button in the top right of it (just to the left of the pin icon) and select 'Clear History'. Once that has been cleared does the file stop crashing for you?

AD did not crash after deleting the history.

I’ve included a new “OTM Copy 2” file with history included.

[Crash w Pixel persona and paint brush iPad 1.10.1]

I am able to crash AD w the following steps

1. Open design (included)

2. Select Pixel persona

3. Select paint brush tool

4. Touch paint brush to document

AD immediately disappears. From the iPad you can see that the app still seems to be alive/running in the background but when I select it it opens as if I’m opening it from scratch.

IOS = 14.8

I second this request. There are so many details about working with the tools that I have to print out a copy of the help text then go back into my design. This might also apply to Mac or windows platforms too.

Affinity Designer 1.9.9, IOS 14.7.1 (and earlier)

AD crashes when working with layer mode. Layer mode is also empty on layer options dialog box when using Erase blend type

AD crashes on some of my designs, example file included

1. Open design in AD

2. View and select a layer

3. View layer options (3 dots)

4. Select “Erase” layer mode option

5. Touch “< Layer Options”

6. View layer options again (…); note that layer mode is blank (should be Erase) (s is also a bug)

7. Touch mode, layer mode list is displayed, Normal is selected (should be Erase) (don't change this)

8. Touch “< Layer Options”; AD crashes
