  1. I'm trying to create an outlined box with a text box inset inside, and then group the two together. This works fine but when I set up any constraints for the inner text box it appears to visually clip the group at the bounding box, resulting in the outline getting thinner. I have attached a video reproducing this in a brand new document. RPReplay_Final1684692460.mov
  2. Yes this used to be present in Designer as well but it doesn't appear to be currently there in 2.1
  3. I just discovered the software keyboard in Affinity Designer doesn't support Shift+Return to perform a soft return. This actually does work in Apple Notes so Apple has built this functionality in, but it's not working in designer. When I use an external keyboard I cannot perform a soft return using Shift+Return because for some reason Apple didn't build that in. So my current workaround is the old fashioned method, perform the soft return in Apple Notes using the software keyboard, take the whole text and paste it into Affinity.
  4. I would just like to follow up this is still very present in the 2.1 update.
  5. On 2.0 a line break character could be accessed in the extra characters bar. But it's not there in 2.1? Is there another way to insert a soft-return?
  6. I make a vector graphic in Designer and want to use it in my Publisher layout. I copy it. No paste option in Publisher. Can I not paste it in Publisher? Is there a decent workflow here? Do I have to export as PDF or SVG and re-import into Publisher? 🥵
  7. I see that it can create a document with a bleed but how do I add or adjust it after the document is created?
  8. Apologies for not clarifying. I'm referring to this menu.
  9. There is a significant delay when I tap to open the special character bar either from the on-screen keyboard or from the small button while using a Bluetooth keyboard. In addition, typing anything while the bar is open results in a delay around a second before anything changes. This is especially obvious when using a bluetooth keyboard, as I can't move the cursor around without huge delays using the arrow keys on the keyboard while the special character bar is open. This makes it pretty useless to try and type with a bluetooth keyboard and have the special character bar visible on screen at the same time. I'm using an M1 iPad Pro 11in
  10. Okay this is a weird one but I figured out how to reproduce it from scratch. No external keyboard. Create a frame text box, hit enter so that it has two lines Switch it to hide the text outside the box Create a new artboard Cut and paste the text box to the new artboard Go back to the first line inside the text box and hit enter to create a new line The view will jump to the first artboard I attached a video RPReplay_Final1680555541.mp4
  11. Check it out! If the text box isn't big enough to handle a hard or soft return my whole canvas zooms out to some unknown area! I'm using an M1 11in iPad Pro. RPReplay_Final1680459285.mp4
  12. I'd just like to say thanks to the team for thoroughly implementing all of this in V2! I can imagine it would be easy to come up with conspiracy theories that they added these features only to V2 to force you to upgrade, but honestly this is the one and only suite that doesn't take my money via subscription and it's really nice. On top of listening to our angry comments the team has to eat. They've done a wonderful job so far.
  13. In addition I would love to put in a word for some on-screen ability to nudge. The current workaround would be creating a very fine grid and zooming in close with your fingers before moving objects but anyone with a minor tremor would suffer.
  14. If you tap nudge distance to set to a custom number and then change the units to something other than pixels, it appears to just set the distance to the same number in px. This makes this feature unusable for any document not in pixels.
  15. I have a large design file that I made using one font. Because it was a font I constructed I made an update to that font which included a name change. Now my design file is full of Helvetica and there appears so be no way to replace missing fonts or "select same font". Is there any way to do this? If not, please add it. This process is exhausting otherwise.
  16. It appears any keyboard attached to iPad on iOS 16.3 (I'm on the beta) isn't registering shift+return. However I can do it with the software keyboard in Notes but not in Affinity. Would love to see that in Affinity. In the meantime I'll report the hardware keyboard issue to Apple.
  17. I am noticing I can't type a soft return using the shift + return keys when on a Bluetooth keyboard (Logitech Keys To Go). This is a generally used function in other apps. Would love to see it in designer as well. On an added note it is possible to do a soft return in other apps using this same combo with the software keyboard. That would be great if Affinity Designer could do it, so I don't have to open the special characters tray.
  18. Attaching this screenshot from Glyphs Mini for reference. It's used for typographic design (but doesn't have iPad version) and pairs very well with other vector apps using cut and paste. They have an offset path feature that allows you to specify the percentage for each side of the path. In this case I created the inside of the R by specifying 0%. It would be a game changer to see this as the adjustment for stroke position on lines in Affinity Designer. I haven't seen any other general vector app do this yet. It'd be really cool.
  19. When I have an open path I can't position the stroke to one side or another. This would be extremely useful for typographical design when my lines are aligned to a specific grid. Example attached.
  20. Using the trash button on the left side or with a long press works correctly with artboards filled with content but doesn't work with empty ones. The only way to delete is through the layer menu.
  21. Yes. That was the workaround. It wouldn't be as convenient with more points but there are other ways. This would be a nice feature to include in that tray regardless, as I've seen it in other apps.
  22. Agreed. Here's an example. I'd like to merge these two points into one that is in the average center of both of them. If I drag them to approximately the same location with node snap on the join button up top isn't visible. So I break them and then join them again. The result is still two points with a miniature spider web of handles.
  23. Here is a demo of a curves adjustment layer flickering and not previewing changes when the iPad is turned to the slight angle (folio case). In this video I am toggling the angle of the iPad as I try to manipulate the curves. I notice that when it's at the slight angle, the curve changes may preview for a second but will quickly lock up until I close the curve editor, turn the iPad further upright, and then go back.
