PNG. When i open its completely white🤦‍♀️

hi there, im new to any form of designing programs and learn on my way. I have a white design that I would like for a tshirt, I have designed it on transparent background. The file that the printer wants is a PNG. When I have exported the design to PNG and saved it I have opened it up to just a white page....nothing, which is what I thought. How do I export so I can see it and it is printed on as any transparent backgound design would???
