I am a media-designer searching for an alternative to Photoshop, mostly because of the price and the price-model.
Gimp was a good alternative but it can not work with CMYK, does not have macros, and even does not have multi-layer editing.
So I researched found Affinity Photo and installed the testversion.
First impression was very good, I tested the software for 2 days in my daily work.
Some features are even better then in Photoshop, but other ones that I absolutely need do not exist.
For a good portion of my daily work I have to cut out product images, resize them and apply a mirror affect to the final image.
I cut out the product using different tools, resize the product on the canvas, and when everything is in its place I press a button to start the macro that applys the mirror effect and exports the file as an jpg in the same folder where I have the .psd / .afphoto - file.
Exporting in a macro is not possible in AP. And even exporting / saving as jpg in the same folder where the .afphoto-file is seems not to be possible without having to navigate to the folder manually all the time.
So I have to stay with Photoshop for now.
But when you integrate these two features I will switch to Affinity Photo for sure.
I think this software has a lot of potential and as someone who has used photoshop for almost 20 years I would not hesitate to change to AP.
