  1. But how do I FIND that or any other frames that have Index material in them?! THAT is what's driving me crazy about my Index problem. I can't find any way to LOCATE ALL OF THOSE EXTRA FRAMES! I did accidentally find one that I discarded, but apparently more are scattered around. How do I find all those extra frames? Thanks.
  2. To my knowledge I only have ONE index in a 180 page book I am creating and editing with Affinity Publisher. My current index is not syncing properly with changes to layout pages. When I erase the existing index from the index section in my document and try to insert a new index I keep getting the baffling message "You can not have multiple indexes". What's going on here? I've already thrown away an extensive index once because it just got too crazy understanding how the process works. I'm willing to start the index from scratch again, but only if I first understand (1) what I am doing wrong, and/or (2) if these Indexing SNAFUs are just persistent bugs or illogical procedures in the app itself. Thanks for any help anyone can give me with this topic.
  3. I transcribed a long interview and added an extensive Index in Affinity Publisher. But for some reason each time I go in to create a different look for the text, using the Edit feature in Text Styles, those changes appear to have changed but even after saving them they do NOT ripple through the entire Index. Plus, portions of the Index start creating odd-sized text for no reason. I realize that as a new Publisher user the chance of "pilot error" being the problem is high! But this finally became so frustrating that I just printed out the Index and then deleted all entries. Now I want to more carefully start the process from scratch using the best practices I can find. First of all, is there a way to reset the Index styles to some kind of default? One problem is that I no longer trust that when I change Text Styles it will make any difference at all! But again perhaps there is some logic to the process I just don't yet understand. Thanks.
  4. The 1.10 update downloads quite fast, but then freezes completely at about the 25% completion mark. Have tried several times after quitting. Same result. Is the problem related to me only having a Trial Version of Publisher? I also tried updating my trial versions of Designer and Photo and had exactly the same problem.
  5. What you suggested works great. But after I choose Pin It Floating and place the Pull Quote where I want it and have the text auto-adjust around it, do I then need to do anything else, such as Unpin? Or just move on the next edit? Thanks again!
  6. Walt, I created one new Text Frame Style for pull quotes that is exactly what I wanted. Thanks for your suggestion! What I don't understand (yet) is how to insert a separate text frame that I can apply that Style to into the Linked flow of text through multiple Master Page-formatted pages in my Publisher document. I have 150 pages flowing into each other, but I would like to interrupt that flow occasionally with some Pull Quotes. I know I can Edit Detached or Edit Linked on each Master Pages but I am still unclear about (1) which of those two modes to choose; (2) how to insert a separate Text Frame that I can apply the Style to; and (3) what to do to put the now-combined linked text frames back together so the changes ripple properly through the entire publication. Thanks!
  7. Walt, Thanks for your help! I had way too many Index Markers from the old document and too many newbie problems I had created for myself, so I just settled for getting the new document to work by (1) copying all the text I had inserted into the new document from the old doc that had all the useless Index Markers; (2) pasting the entire 150 pages of that text into BBEdit; and (3) copying that cleaned-up text back into the new Publisher doc. That process, of course, wiped out all of the Index Markers, but since I had first made copies of all the old Index pages, it's a simple matter now to recreate the Index all over again — knowing I won't make the same mistakes again. Learning how to operate a new piece of design software while trying to get a finished publication out the door is challenging, but as a long-time InDesign user I am thrilled to have discovered and switched over to Affinity Publisher!
  8. I created a project that just got messed up as I was learning the basics of Affinity Publisher. So after I had learned from my mistakes I more carefully set up a brand-new document, then went to my old document, copied all the text and pasted into the new doc. Success! Two questions: (1) I now have at least a hundred old Index Markers from the old file that are still showing up in the text frame but are no longer integrated with the Index of the new doc. Is there any way to blend or merge that data; or (2) am I going to have to create a brand-new Index from scratch. If that is true, then how do I get rid of all of the non-functional Index Markers from the old text? Thanks for your help!
