  1. Why would it be racism?? There are PLENTY of other reasons why it may not have been introduced. Serif was founded in 1987. Computing was not widespread - if you are old enough to remember when mobile Phones first appeared in the Arab World (Nokia, etc), the physical keyboards were all in Western alphabets - and people texted 'in Arabic' using Western alphabet letters. The Serif/Affinity program was developed by Left-to-Right people - who may not have thought of putting in Top-to-Bottom or Right-to-Left when the programs were developed way back in 1987. IMHO - the issue may be a legacy issue based on the original software. I have used InDesign - where the core text I use is in English - and any Arabic text introduced will often get flipped around, so it's illegible - it seems a difficult thing (even though Wordpress etc can do it). Certainly, it will be great if Affinity 🙏 will introduce the ability to include Right-to-Left languages (not all of which are Arabic) - but it might be that the entire software is impacted (as with InDesign's frequent glitches).
  2. Omer it is unfortunate - But I like Affinity & I purchased version2 on its release - designer, photo, publisher so fingers crossed 🤞Affinity will introduce Right to Left ⬅️or engage/approve a company to create a plug-in at an extra charge 💰- it will be a fantastic addition especially for publisher
  3. oui - ce serait génial d'avoir une langue de droite à gauche - pour l'arabe, etc.
  4. Its unfortunate Maryam Ismaeel that Affinity, so far, does not support any right to left languages (Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Urdu etc) . I purchased Affinity 2 - the latest version - in the hope that right to left will be included in that, eventually. Fingers crossed it will come Inshallah
  5. KHALIDTV - agreed. There may be a coding issue to get the script to flow when using a mix of left to right & right to left. However a plugin or similar that has a charge would hopefully offset the cost of specialized coding. Lets see - I'm always hopeful
  7. Hi @Barron - Right to Left has a vast pool of users. Adobe in their earlier versions of Photoshop had a plug-in for RTL (I cant remember if it was paid-to-download). Would a similar option be one you could use in Affinity? eg pay for that extra feature. I dont have InDesign, but it is used by a publisher of my writing. Its not perfect with RTL - and does have occasional glitches where a few individual words of the cursive Arabic is displayed LTR (and each letter is unlinked). So from my point of view Affinity has a market for RTL and a competitor who offers it but hasn't mastered it.
  8. As a newbie I really didnt know if this was a good place to reply to @HalHart to amplify their request re right-left text. Im delighted to know its the right place
  9. They may not be decision makers (I have no idea who these may be) - but perhaps they have an ability to provide direct feedback to the decision makers at Affinity - who I guess are too busy to read through all the posts on the forum about the subject. I added the paid app point as there is a cost to creating right to left which would only be of use to an unknown % of Affinity users and they (including me) could pay for it.
  10. Affinity could create a right to left text option as an chargeable app in their store (if its technically possible - as Adobe did as a plug-in on the older Photoshop). The charge will hopefully defray cost & even make a profit. In India, Pakistan, Iran, Israel, the Arab world etc large numbers of users or potential users, would make a target user pool. Perhaps @Sean P & the Affinity team will consider it.
  11. I appreciate that - there have been several forum posts about right to left language over the years. My post was to make a language request to Affinity (without making a new post) with a link to a moderator such as @Callum(the forum is suggested for requests - by Affinity on their website ). As I am aware that I am not the first I hope that by letting them know there is another person who is interested, a picture of demand may build up. I think Affinity is a good, low cost alternative to Adobe - so the cost of freely implementing the request may be prohibitive. The right-to left market is also generally low cost (except for Israel). So I think Affinity have a large pool of people who would right to left language - and pay for it. Artwayz charge from US$30 for the right-to-left workaround and they explicitly promote for use with Affinity. So I would guess that Affinity - or an authorised supplier - could achieve that as a sale in the Affinity add-ons store if the Affinity team would agree. Hope springs eternal - to quote Pope.
  12. Thanks @LondonSquirrel Libre is good but still if transferred (copy & paste) to Affinity the result is still jumbled - see the attachment - the top is توني from Libre - but joined & almost got there - I tried the same from MS Word - and the bottom is inexplicable - but a script. I also entered direct - the first is on the Oman 101 keyboard (Windows10) and the second is Oman 102 - slight difference which I had not seen when using MS Word. I am tempted to buy Artwayz - but some comments are that it doesn't function. Photoshop - the old versions on a CD - did have a plugin that worked & I can imagine that a similar paid plugin would work with Affinity.🤞
  13. It will be good to have Arabic right-left language / bidirectional text support @Lee D. There are some workarounds detailed on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=affinity+arabic+ some have a cost like Artwayz). Having a plug-in or similar for Affinity would be ideal - even if its an Added Cost Item to be purchased from the Affinity add-ons store. There must be a large number of users using Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Urdu - who would be interested. thanks
  14. It will be good to have webp as an export option - Google like it on search and Wordpress, as you say MVCS, now offer it in their latest update.
