I will have to repost once I have figured out the master doc on Chapter One and moved into Chapter Two where I will try and apply Section Manager.
Really this is overly complicated.
A simple footer and header function along with a page numbering feature that lets you set the number for each chapter would be much more user friendly.
I've worked with Quark and InDesign and while I'm a meat and potatoes layout guy and more of a writer and researchers I got along pretty well...having learned those programs laying out newspaper pages...where speed and simplicity are tantamount.
I did fine with AF until this little hiccup!!
I do thank those who responded. It must be frustrating to deal with a newbie like me when the answer is so plain and simple to you.
I mean no offence by that having taught a couple of writing classes at college level.
We forget how far we've come on the path....sometimes.
