I've just experienced this hiccup. I'm running Win10 64bit. I purchased all three Version 2 Affinity apps two days ago. Today just by way of exploring, I launched Designer (v. 2.0.0). Then whilst leaving that running, I launched Photo(v. 2.0.3). Next, again whilst leaving the other two running, I launched Publisher (v.2.0.3). I ran correctly, but then put up an error message which read as follows: "Cannot communicate with other Affinity apps. Please ensure the app is up-to-date and that your firewall isn't blocking local network traffic." Well as you can see, they are all up-to-date, (Designer doesn't yet offer to upgrade to 2.0.3). I've never touched my firewall for years and I've never had a problem, I can't imagine that is the issue. So, I simply closed/shutdown all three of them and then immediately launched Publisher again. It worked perfectly, and the error/warning was not repeated. I then launched the other two. Still no repeat of the warning. For a final test, I closed them all down again, then launched all three again, in the same order as when the error message appeared. Nope, no error messages. All three working perfectly. Just thought I would report this incident in case it's important, relevant or helps anyone else.

Thank you again stuck for this suggestion. I do quite like Stardock, and I actually upgraded to the paid-for version quite a long time ago, so it's too late to save money with this free alternative. Nevertheless I do like an uncluttered desktop, and I do keep a large selection of shortcut icons, so I may well still add a Quick Launch Toolbar anyway. The instructions available via that link consistently refer to adding apps. Do I correctly assume that a QLToolbar can just as easily have folders added to it, in the same way that the Taskbar can?

I'm running Windows10. Yesterday I purchased the updates to V2 of all three apps. I use a MacOS Dock lookalike app called StarDock, (also goes under the name of ObjectDock). You add shortcut icons for any app onto it to have a quick launch instead of cluttering up Windows' Toolbar or scattering the desktop with icons. Most programs when installing offer the option to add a shortcut to the desktop. I'm not sure if Affinity does not offer this option, but if it does then I missed it. Either way, I haven't got such icons for these three apps which I need to be able to drag them onto ObjectDock. I normally solve this problem by going into either Program Files or Program Files (x86), right-clicking on the exe file of the required app and selecting Send to Desktop. Tnere is an Affinity folder in Program Files, but that only contains my V1 copies of the apps. Where has Affinity stored the V2 apps please?

Hi, having bought all three Affinity apps this week, I am still very new to them. So in spite many years familiarity of using the older Serif apps, PagePlus, PhotoPlus, etc, here I am asking very basic questions! I used Help to discover that the Edit menu offer undo/redo, but I am surprised that these Affinity apps, (well the Publisher one that I am using right now at least), does not have the common undo/redo arrows. Achieving this via a menu instead, (ie. rather than as well if preferred),is rather clumsy. I suspect that such arrows may well be available if enabled and I have yet to find out how to do that - but it is not an option in the Customise Toolbar panel, I've just looked. Similarly, Help describes how the History panel functions. But it doesn't tell me where to find it! Help would be appreciated.

Today I purchased all three of the Affinity range apps. I hit the following problems: Publisher didn't accept the product key details even though they WERE correct. Fortunately, a repeated attempt later in the day WAS successful. However, when I got to the Register part where it offered to download the extra free kits, the app instantly exited instead. Upon re-running it, it ran correctly, but there was no Register option with an offer to fetch the free kits. By using Help, I found out that I could re-open the Registration window via My Account. That enabled me to confirm that my Registration of Publisher HAD been accepted. So far so good, but there was still the matter of downloading the free kits included in the purchase price. But, opening my account also opened a window indicating "My Purchases". In that section all the kits are duly displayed. So, my question is - Even though at no point in the process was I given an opportunity to download these kits, , so to the best of my knowledge I have not yet downloaded them, am I correct or am I wrong in believing that I these kits are indeed present on my computer? (I have not yet made any attempt to use any of them to find out). If so, then all is well although I do not pretend to understand how they got there! Finally, again using Help -> My Account with all three apps, I see that all of them display the My Purchases list of kits and that each list is the same. Does this mean that the same kits are available and usable with all three programs?

Hello, I'm a Serif customer of maybe 15 years or more. I'm considering buying all three Affinity apps, but before I do, I have one query which is important to me. I'm using Windows 10 Professional. My important query is simply this - I don't like the black background of the Afffinity apps. I dislike it sufficiently for that to prevent me buying these apps unless I can change it to the white background that I am used to with WebPlusX8, PagePlusX9, DrawPlusX8, and PhotoPlusX8, all of which to my mind are still outstanding programs. Many years ago I started off with the X2 versions of all of these, with the exception of WebPlus, which was at version 10 when I first bought it - and I regularly upgraded over the years until Serif sadly pulled the plug on this range. I hope that gives you a clear indication of what a huge Serif fan I am, and that someone will be kind enough to help me find the answer to my present query, which may well lead to yet another Serif purchase by me.
