  1. I found the problem, the free app you recommended, after I used it and opened that jpg, it said it's converting it to 8 bit! It's the way it's exported. I simply do not embed the ICC and the metadata, problem solved! For the most part, those are not needed for web pages and to show a preview for the final product. I can do it like that or simply not worry about being able to see it and if I REALLY need to see it, I'll just open it the paint 3D or the free app. Correct me if I'm wrong or if this gives you a hint of an inherent problem in my system.

  3. First of, thank you for the link. I tried several options, none made a difference. But, I DID notice something I had not noticed before. It's not really dark, the image is still there, but super light inside the dark square. If I zoom, I can see more, but everything is dark. I check for video driver update, no new drivers. Besides, I don't think it's a driver problem, since all other jpegs work fine that were either created by other apps or downloaded from the web. But, anyway, I'm not gonna worry about it, at least I'm not doing anything wrong, or missing a setting or something. Thank you for your help! I may give xnViewMP that a try though!

  5. Of course! Never had a problem. And it’s only whatever is exported from Affinity. BTW, you may want to find this topic by me on a new post. I’m not on my PC right now, but as soon as I get home I will zip it.
  6. I exported a flyer from Affinity photo as a jpg. (Note, I'm a newbie in all Affinity products. When I open it using the windows default app "Photo" it only shows for a few seconds at most, then goes totally black. But if I try to edit it using "Photo" it stays fine as well as when I open it with other windows apps, like paint 3D. Even if I emailed it to myself, windows photo acts same from the downloaded file. I'll try to attach it here and see how it behaves on you guys end. Thank you!
  7. Yeah, I apologize, I should have added more detail and perhaps I should start a whole new thread since this is not related to my original question. I exported a similar flyer as pictured above (for current year) from Affinity photo as a jpg. When I open it using the windows default app "Photo" it only shows for a few seconds at most, then goes totally black. But if I try to edit it using "Photo" it stays fine as well as other windows apps. I'll try to attach it here and see how it behaves on you guys end. Thank you!
  8. Allow me to add... When I email the image to myself, when I download it and open it in windows 10, same thing, shows for a second then blacks out.
  9. Well, I know it's been a while, but I took your advice long ago, while the sale was on and I purchased all three apps. Tank you! BTW, if I may, it's nice, but I have a question, perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but when I export a jpg, it looks fine, the thumbnail looks fine, when I open it in windows default photo viewer, it show perfect for a few seconds than it blacks out. When I email it, it emails fine, looks/opens fine on other devices. What am I doing? Thanks again!
  10. Well, I do many things for my church; all of the above plus all the social media pages, websites and weekly bulletin and distributing it via a listerv. I DO manipulate photos. Attached are two flyers, the 2019 was done by the guy on Affinity photo (not sure if photo or publisher or...) and the 2020 by me in Photoshop, that one is during the pandemic and was online only and I had to create an online store. Yes, the problem of opening the files has been resolved and now that I'm looking at the Affinity stuff, looks inviting. Reason is, first it's cheap and second is more up to date than my old CS2 and it looks like it CAN open CS2 files! And, it might come handy opening up some stuff I got that can only be used in the new Photoshop.
  11. BTW, anyone has experience w/the new Photoshop AND Affinity Photo? How do they compare? Affinity Photo is pretty inexpensive, hard to believe it's as capable, but than again, I don't do super stuff w/it either.
  12. I'm able to open it in Photoshop, but no layers. I also tried to export it with best edit-ability rather than accuracy, still same. I was also able to open it in Affinity Photo and it opened fine WITH all the layers. So, I suspect it's my version of Photoshop. I can't afford the new version, I'm not a business, just helping out my church & friends and personal use for fun.
  13. Well, that was pretty fruitless exercise! The objective was to open it, then export it to Photoshop. It did, but as a single layer, it discarded all the layers, I have to click to discard each layer. It's possible it's for the newer Photoshop, I have CS2 (pretty old, like me!).
  14. @walt.farrell I replied few minutes ago on my iPhone, but I don't see it here, so I apologize if this is a dup. Yes, I mean Affinity Photo and the file is on my PC folder with the extension .afpackage BTW, I just looked at the folder to ensure the proper extension and it actually now has an icon, so I double clicked it and it actually opened in Affinity Photo, wow! Thank you!
