GenewalDesign got a reaction from retrograde in Split View in iOS
I’m bumping that feedback.
Can we hope to have the split screen function on iOS? Slide over is OK but it hides half of the toolbar on left or right side when I use it.

GenewalDesign reacted to nomad5 in AFDesign files greyed out in Google Drive folder
Yes, this has been driving me a little nuts as I have been working on multiple platforms and I would like to remain using Google Drive. It seems there is a workaround and the bug isn't isolated to just the Affinity products, the steps on the following link work like a charm!

GenewalDesign reacted to Dan C in Designer | Kerning is wrong with some fonts
Apologies for the delayed response - thanks for the files and further testing conducted!
I can confirm I'm seeing the same behaviour and therefore I'm logging this as a bug with our developers now.
I hope this helps

GenewalDesign got a reaction from oscarlosan in Animated GIF in Photo/Designer
Hello,
I know it's an asked feature a few times for the V1, but now that V2 is out, why not adding this one?
A "Timeline" feature for creating GIFs, and tools like creating frames from layers, image stacking...

GenewalDesign got a reaction from Bartosz Borecki in Select Object / Select Same of hidden objects
I'm joining the party, this function is lacking a proper excluding system. I want to select curves that have the same colors, but it also select curves I don't want to.
I did some objects, with clipping masks. Theses curves have little objects I want to remove, so I use select same fill color. I can uncheck the "select hidden objects", but as my little objects are inside bigger objects, I would have to open EVERY object and hide them one after one...!
So, what about just hiding the upper object that nest the little ones? NOPE. It select the objects I don't want to.

GenewalDesign reacted to Callum in [Designer] Random crash
Hi GenewalDesign,
Unfortunately there isn't a lot we can do for one off crashes that can't be reproduced I'm afraid. If you find this starts happening more often or find steps that can easily replicate this crash please let me know and I'll look into this further with you.
Thanks

GenewalDesign reacted to Dan C in Expand stroke makes it disappear
Thanks for providing that for me!
I've tested this in both 2.0.4 and 2.1 beta and unfortunately the issue is present in both versions - this bug appears to be caused by the Pressure Profile applied to the curve, as removing this allows the shape to be expanded as expected.
I'll be logging this as a bug with our developers now, I hope this helps

Hello, 90's kids. This one is for you.
In memory of Jason David Frank, the green ranger actor.

GenewalDesign got a reaction from Aeromachinator in Random freezes
Fixes that resolve frequent crashes shouldn't be included in 3 months long betas.
I don't want to use the beta to resolve that issue because as it is, it's a beta. I'm using the software on a professional basis, getting new bugs because I want to avoid one is not a solution.

GenewalDesign got a reaction from Tony Pritchard in Optical Kerning
+1 for Optical kerning.
The auto option is not enough, I always used the optical option in AI, it always looked better when creating text logos or big text blocks.

The Drawings SDK can be a good starting point. https://www.opendesign.com/products/drawings

GenewalDesign reacted to Pšenda in No DXF EXPORT in Designer 2 ..are you serious!?
As an expert in laser cutting, which you constantly declare yourself to be here, did you not notice during the duration of the trial version and during the refund period - that Afinity cannot export DXF? Wow.

If they were clones they would have all the same features. You are complaining they do not, so they are not clones

GenewalDesign reacted to Callum in Layer creation and clipping mask behavior
Hi GenewalDesign,
Do the buttons found in the following help article help with this at all?

Thanks

GenewalDesign reacted to Tim France in Scripting
Hi folks,
I thought I'd give you a quick progress update and let you see some of things we've been working on at Serif Labs. We now have a scripting core that we're reasonably happy with and have put together a little test area where we can run Javascript code, so I thought I'd show you some of that. Things to note:
This is all VERY early, like pre-pre-pre-alpha. The JS API is extremely fluid and is constantly changing. This is not how the Affinity suite will run scripts and plugins; it is just a sandbox window for internal testing. There is still a huge amount of work to be done. I can't provide any timescales for when scripting will be publicly released, for Beta or Retail. Constructive feedback is welcomed, but I won't be able to answer all questions - see previous points. I'm not claiming any of these examples are particularly useful on their own; they're just to demonstrate some basic scripting functionality. Re Javascript async - yes, we support it, I've just not recorded anything yet. The sleep calls are there for screen-recording purposes only. Here are some demos as low-res gifs. If you want to take a closer look, movs are attached.
Create a Mandelbrot image
Some dodgy physics
Insert a dragon curve
"Emojification" (translation?) of text
Create a grid of colours
Select and hide based on hue
Replay a document's edit history

GenewalDesign reacted to mediumcheese in Affinity Designer V2 crashes when zooming in and out frequently
It's annoying that we have to wait on hotfixes for critical bugs because you guys want to bundle them in with feature updates. Just push out bug fixes on their own. Designer has been almost unusable for me since the last update.

GenewalDesign got a reaction from HydroJLW in Request: Auto Select All Child Layers
Looking for a solution too.

GenewalDesign reacted to HydroJLW in Request: Auto Select All Child Layers
Request: Auto select all child layers (from select menu or right click menu)
As far as I am aware, this isn't possible with a button. A click and drag is needed, which can sometimes be problematic.
The select menu has the option to select parent, but it would be very useful to be able to go there to select all child layers too.
Please correct me if I am wrong and there is indeed an option for this that I haven't seen.
Thank you.

GenewalDesign got a reaction from debraspicher in Feature Request : Shrink interface
If I remember well, it was back to CS3.
This is where the UX is well built : if you are not familiar with the panel icons, you just have to resize the column to have the name of the panel, while still having the pop-out when you need it.
-
GenewalDesign got a reaction from Cuando in Feature Request : Shrink interface
If I want to do this quickly, I just hit tab. But it's not what i'm looking for : reducing the UI, not hiding it.
Another software I won't name, can do this the way I think : just click on the small double chevrons and the whole panel is reduced to icons.
-
GenewalDesign got a reaction from Cuando in Feature Request : Shrink interface
The only available option to "reduce" interface is only to hide it.
I would like to shrink the interface when I need to have more space on my work area. With just a button, all the studio windows are reduced to an icon, if you need to check the panels, just click on the icon, like on the iPad OS version.

Yes I know about that one, but it hides only in vertical way, not horizontal.
