  1. I am looking for a replacement for Adobe Bridge, not for view/organizing but for adding/editing metadata for illustrations and photos before uploading to stock sites. We don't have that ability built in to AD or AP right now do we? Could we?
  2. It's already June 2017, any thoughts here from the team about an Adobe Bridge replacement? I am really looking for a tool to replace Bridge which will allow me to view thumbnails and add/edit metadata for illustrations and photos. This is a requirement for stock image uploads.
  3. For clarity, MEB, I create a new document by selecting "+" icon > new > OK. I then immediately select the Home icon (<-) in the upper left corner. The file is now shown on the Home page as Untitled. Where is this file saved? I don't see it in my cloud drive.
  4. This leads me to other questions. Where does photos save its files by default? Can I select a place in the cloud to be access by another program or in Photos on my pc?
  5. Thank you all for the hard work. Here is a short list of things I'd like to see. I have mentioned a couple before, a few are new but other may have already mentioned them. Node alignment Line erase and trim to line (different that knife or node split tools) Draw shapes on selected axis (ellipses, etc) Eye dropper to copy paste all or some properties of object Callouts (great for parts lists). Perhaps this can be part of the arrowhead feature. Auto numbering would be an awesome bonus. An ai/PS export that works. ;-)
  6. Herojas93You beat me to it, though I think it's the Shift Key that you should be using.
  7. Is there anyone here who creates illustrations for stock sites like Getty or Shutterstock and has figured out a way to reliably export a usable EPS version 10 file? I have tried EPS, PDF, and SVG with no luck. It is so unreliable, even using just flat colors (because gradients can really be a problem), that it's often easier just using Illustrator instead. I know there is this strange thing about Adobe playing nice with others in regard to the allowing of exporting an ai file (if that makes sense) but they seem fine with the export of psd files. Thanks Bill
  8. Thank you. Yes, am I familiar with the videos and the concepts. I have been a technical illustrator for 33 years. :-) It's just the topic of parallel projection in the Help which wasn't really useful and didn't know if it led to some special functionality that I wasn't seeing. As stated, I was hoping to find something on actually drawing "on axis". Draw a square on axis and it shows as skewed. Draw a circle and it shows as an ellipse. The original illustration software from Serif did this (before the days of Affinity). Isodraw does this perfectly. It has much more functionality for the tech ill folks, and I am not expecting that from Affinity. Just the ability to draw on axis. You can start at about the one minute mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4vH8E8YhNE Another option would be to have scripting take care of the conversion of objects. I have done this for Illustrator and Coreldraw. https://vimeo.com/208498149
  9. Hi all, I am looking for topics on Parallel Projections. What I was hoping to find was a method of drawing on axis. Example: with the isometric grid on, select the left side and draw a circle. Because you are in isometric mode your circle shows as an ellipse. I have been able to find the topic in Help, but that didn't "help". Thanks in advance.
  10. Does affinity have a Polygonal selection tool like PS, or a way to draw a path and convert to selection? I am have a heck of a time creating selections with straight lines and smooth curves. Pixelmater's tools, including the quick selection tool, seem to work much better, sorry to say.
  11. What's the sense of having Affinity if you'll need another application to be successful creating acceptable EPS files? A bit rhetorical really, but still. As long as I don't use effects such as drop shadows or Gaussian blurs, which rasterize at export, I have been successful at exporting EPS files with gradients in CorelDRAW and Xara (both Windows only). Xara has been the most reliable. That's been some years ago. Imagine my surprise then when I discovered Affinity was not successful at exporting this file type. I have also been somewhat successful at exporting PDFs or SVGs with AD, but they are very unpredictable. Most of the time all shapes/colors are banded, captured in a clipping mask, and sometime the gradients go in crazy directions. All of which are pretty much useless. I want to work with software that does everything I need it to. Sadly, if I want to continue to uploading to the stock sites or supply customers with eps or ai files compatible file, I will be using Illustrator.
  12. Running 1.5.4. on mac. My interface is in Separated Mode. Selecting Merge all Windows does nothing. I have tried to reset everything by holding Ctrl key while opening app, but that didn't help. BTW, I am running the latest Beta version (just installed). That is working fine.
  13. I sell illustrations and photos on a few online stock sites. Affinity would make things so much easier for me if we could export a version 10 compatible eps. Still, Affinity Designer sure makes illustrations like this fun.
  14. Thanks Hokusai, A boolean function...similar, but it would work with paths as well well as fills.
  15. I'd like to see a trim tool (select line(s), will delete line(s)_ up to another line). CorelDRAW has one that works really well. Here is a video showing the feature. thanks and great job so far.
  16. I received an error while editing a raw photo through Apple Photos. I edited two other photos with no problems. " Failed to save document: Apple Photos Document" I don't think the file was open by any other application. This might not be very helpful because I don't remember exactly the step or edit I did, but I thought I'd send this anyway. I will try to duplicate later today.
  17. I am getting some funky looking pdf outputs. It only seems to appear when special effects have been used. It appears AD is bit mapping the area, understandably, but not doing a very good job of it. Thoughts?
  18. @nravenlock, thank you so much. Yes, that was it. My lack of understanding how artboards worked in AD, and my assumption that artboards worked like AI, was the real problem here.
  19. I'm not sure if this is a bug or my inability to understand how layers work with AD. I noticed that when I move a line it moves to another layer. It doesn't matter if the layer is locked or not. I notice this behavior when trying to connect paths as well. I haven't totally tested this yet but...the lines that I am having problems with are ones that were copied from one layer and paste into another. It's as if it remembers the layer is originally came from. The problem goes away if I paste the lines into a different drawing or file. This is happening in beta 6 and 7. lineMovestoDifferentLayer.mov
