I get what you're saying...but there are loads of instances when I'm creating game or concept at that controlled dynamics are needed. I do create brush presets for specific tasks in Photoshop, but I was still talking, somewhat metaphorically, in regard to the brush size...when you change it using the keyboard shortcuts, it doesn't go back to the 'brush' you had prior to altering the size. Scaling using a percentile value of the current brush size makes it less consistent and useful than if the percentile change was based on the original (default) brush size.

As a digital artist its absolutely essential. It's like being a painter using a brush, switching to a smaller one then going to grab your large brush to find that somebody has nicked it. I get for retouching its not a crucial thing, but when you're doing digital painting, matte painting with custom brushes it's a crucial thing. Plus it just makes sense that going in the opposite direction should take back to where you were previously. Not one step forward 2 steps plus 15% back. Ya know?

Exactly. There shouldn't be a trade off for consistency. It's one thing Photosho does perfectly. . And you can still go from really small to really extremely quickly. I mean something based on a fibonacci or power of 2 sequence would work. The Brush engine is the main thing that's still got me using Photoshop over Affinity.

Hey Everyone. I'm just trying to get to grips with Affinity more and more after years of working with and teaching Photoshop. Getting a few strange things going on and wondering if I'm the only one getting these issues, and if there are any work arounds. Brush size: When I use the [ and ] keys to decrease and increase paintbrush size, the value seems almost random. certainly not consistent. For example, my brush is 400px by default. I press [ and it decrease (exactly what I want) to 340 (strange jump, but i can work with that.). If I press ] is should go back to 400 right?...nope, it increases to 391px? Hitting [ doesn't take it to 340 again, but this time...332.4 What is going on here? This kind of arbitrary scaling makes it impossible to use keyboard shortcuts to scale brushes up or down with any consistency. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Anybody else getting this? Brush Preview: Turning off brush preview in the preferences > user interface doesn't work, even after restart. The brush preview is also a considerably different size to the brush itself. Brush Panel: I'll move this to a feature request but want to stick it here so all the weird brush stuff is together in on brush hell The ability to create brush groups, or folders would be so useful....I'm talking about collapsible and expandable groups or folders in the Brush panel. Rather that just one huge expanded list for each 'group' or brush set/pack....which is such an awkward way to navigate larger brush packs or groups. Basically in the same way Photoshops Brush groups works...you can have groups and sub groups that keep brushes really nicely organised and easy to navigate. Also the brush previews are too small to really be of much use, the ability to change the size of brush previews and toggle on or off the brush stroke preview would be useful. Most concerning though is that very strange size behaviour. Anyone else experiencing anything like this or know why its happening? Cheers

I'm afraid this doesn't work. The brush preview remains even after unchecked and restarted. The brush preview remains...and doesn't match the size of the brush mark created. Any thoughts on why this would be happening? (Running windows 10)

This has been an issue for me from day one. Using Affinity Photo I'm unable to zoom in using the Wacom Intuos pro. I can click to zoom out, but zooming in does nothing. The only way I can zoom in is to draw a marquee rectangle. Or switch to a mouse to click. Wacom is working perfectly with all other software, including the dreaded Adobe suite There's definitely something strange going on.
