I have intersection selection activated, but this causes drag selection to 'intersect' shapes with no fill. For example, I do not want to select the outside shape (no fill) when I am dragging to select the inside shape (or more typically, a group of shapes).

The laptop is 3840 x 2160 set to 300% and the monitor is 1920 x 1080 set to 100%. Connected via HDMI. Changing resolution or display setting does not appear to solve the issue. And it turns out it does persist even with a single monitor. As mentioned, I think this has to do with importing .eps or .pdf files, which is when I run into these problems.

The bug appears to be stem from monitors of different resolutions. My desktop and laptop monitors are of different resolutions. When I only use the desktop (peripheral) monitor, this and related problems go away. EDIT: Mostly go away. EDIT2: These problems seem to arise on documents that have been imported from another file format, such as .eps and .pdf. Designer seems to have a lot of problems with the quality of import.

I have intersection marquee turned on. As seen in the attached file, the rectangle is selected even when the marquee does not intersect the object. selection_error.afdesign

@R C-R I can double click on any element, which is good to know. That allows me to modify one element at a time, but I cannot select multiple objects, e.g. through marquee selection. @Old Bruce That is a good point, I might have to investigate other formats.

I use academic software to generate plots by exporting them to .eps and then importing into Adobe (previously) or Affinity Designer (now). When importing .eps into Affinity, figure elements are grouped together as a curve, and it is not possible to select one element. I cannot find any way to release the curves because the Release command is greyed out. If the curve is in a layer, the Release command is available, but it simply removes the curve from the layer. The only approach appears to be to manually select all the elements inside each grouped curve, and manually release them. This is time-consuming when there are many such grouped curves. I would like to know how to release all curves at the same time. Failing that, I would like to know if it is possible to make Affinity Designer import elements as a group, instead of as a curve. figure_import.afdesign
