I think you may need to switch to embedded files. @StuartRc is the expert in this area.

My first creation using my new XP-Pen Artist 13.3 Pro. Very pleased with this piece of kit and impressed at how must it speeds up the whole process.
Not sure how to deal with all these fine brush strokes though?
Already caused the program to lock up once last night and file size heading towards 100MB? There must be a way to flatten or something? I tried adding all the brushes in each layer together into one layer, but that ended up increasing the file size and running a bit slow..

Was this ever implemented? I'm trying to work out how to get the pencil tool to do this. Seems like a fairly basic feature to me.

Honestly, I don’t even think the devs read these forums. People have been complaining about not having this function for years and no one seems to give a crap. It’s very disappointing. Affinity, in many ways, works better for me than Illustrator, but in other ways, it’s just too unwieldy for an efficient tool.

I'm not sure I know enough to advise on an approach. Personally I work in sRGB and export to pdf using my printer's custom profile as the output intent.

The browser is colour managed, that's why it looks correct there.
Have a read about profile connection space, basically it's a defined "real world" set of colours that are mapped to/from so all devices show the same thing. Photos doesn't use it, so your colour values in your file aren't mapped to their "real life" colours before being sent to the monitor.

The screenshot file that you initially posted includes no profile, so it's not possible to for me to know what is being sent to your display. Maybe I jumped to the wrong conclusion earlier because if you are using a wide gamut monitor then it is possible that you are seeing the correct colours in Affinity and oversaturated colours when viewing the exports in non-colour managed apps.

Maybe this is helpful for you, as I guess your display profile is not set up correctly for Affinity.

Thanks. I decided to order an XP-Pen Artist 13.3 Pro in the end, which is on offer for £240 right now and seems to be getting rave reviews from everyone. Hope I have made the right choice. If I can also sell some art this summer then maybe I'll invest in an iPad later as well.

Unfortunately there's no such support for this that I'm aware of between iPad & Windows, my apologies. On macOS you can use your iPad through 'Sidecar', which turns your iPad into a secondary display for your mac and can accept touch inputs.
You may be able to find third party alternatives on Windows for this, however as these are untested on Windows we cannot guarantee compatibility with Affinity here. I hope this helps

It might have been 4 and 3 and not 3 and 4 indeed. I posted this just after the time I joined on Monday though just in case it was 4 days? but perhaps my avatar separation anxiety was a tad premature.

OK, that changes the options. Unfortunately, I can't give you a tip on which pens are suitable for iPads.
However, the question should be answered here:

You are not a pleb! it is just a learning process!... the top Context/Setttings bar catches a lot of people out with regards to brushes.. Either the controller for vectors or the 'Protect Alpha' under raster brushes
The appearance of the brush swatch contained in the Brush Panel changes according to the sliders...If you want to partially see the result of settings or check whether it has influence!

A few more weeks I understand.
Quite, shop around, perhaps you can find the iPad a bit cheaper   but the family sharing option is there for just this sort of thing, particularly as she is not using it (and you paid).

Perhaps use cloud based software such as Photopea? It's a Photoshop clone working in the browser. As long as your device can run a modern browser, all your files are shared via the same account.

You can enable Family Sharing in your mums account allowing up to 6 family members to download and use the app.

You need a capacitive stylus, so I don’t think you can use just any old plastic pencil, but an Apple Pencil isn’t strictly necessary (which is just as well, because devices such as the iPad Air 2 that I’m using don’t support the Apple Pencil). I have a Meko stylus that I use if I want greater precision than I can achieve with my fingertip or one of those soft rubber things.
