  1. Windows yes. I'm sure it's probably something simple. I'm using a brand new high spec gaming PC with a super slick graphics card so I'm guessing it's probably something in the settings that I don't quite understand. I've never gotten into what all the different colour standard profiles are all about and all that..
  2. I don't know what you mean. I posted a screenshot of the file in AD alongside the exported jpg in the Windows Photo app. So in that respect I think I've already done what you are requesting?
  3. Why is my copy of Designer showing the colours wrong, and how do I fix that?
  4. I noticed this too. You can see the difference between Affinity and the exported jpg here. Tried different resample settings and it's always the same. I know my monitor isn't calibrated but I would expect the colour to be the same even if it's not 100% accurate.
  5. Thanks. I decided to order an XP-Pen Artist 13.3 Pro in the end, which is on offer for £240 right now and seems to be getting rave reviews from everyone. Hope I have made the right choice. If I can also sell some art this summer then maybe I'll invest in an iPad later as well.
  6. I took the plunge on an XP-Pen Artist 13.3 Pro for £240 so just waiting for that to arrive! Nothing but rave reviews for this device and I think I'll benefit from the functionality buttons and the scroll wheel.
  7. I'm torn between buying an entry level iPad for about £320 (+ additional pen costs) or an XP-Pen. I've been watching some of the reviews on YouTube and it looks like a great device and currently they are on sale for £240 which is a great price! XP-PEN Artist 13.3 Pro Pen Display Graphics Drawing Tablet Monitor | XP-Pen UK official store (storexppen.co.uk) I feel like my needs would be better filled using the XP-Pen - functionality buttons and they come with pens and nibs that don't require charging. However the iPad has the additional benefit of allowing me to take my work with me and it seems like for a little more money I'd get a more solid product with the additional benefit of being a fully functional tablet as well. OTOH I feel that using the XP-Pen might lend itself to better productivity and faster work rate since I wouldn't have to bother with saving and reopening files between this and my main computer. I just wondered if anyone had any advice they could offer to help me decide. Which screen is better for drawing on?
  8. It might have been 4 and 3 and not 3 and 4 indeed. I posted this just after the time I joined on Monday though just in case it was 4 days? but perhaps my avatar separation anxiety was a tad premature.
  9. I'm trying to search for a thread on syncing, but not sure what is meant by it in the context of this thread. I'm pondering whether to buy an iPad or a drawing tablet. I feel that an iPad would serve me better for photo editing, and being able to see the design is a plus. I know some drawing tablets have this feature but they are in the price range of an entry level iPad so.. One benefit the drawing tablets seem to offer is buttons to set functionality, which the iPad doesn't and requires choosing setting by touching the screen. If there was a way to sync the Windows and iPad versions via bluetooth while working on a design that allows input from both then that would be potentially useful? It wouldn't matter if there was a bit of lag between the two. This might be my last post for 24 hours as I used up my post quota yesterday and don't know what it is, also still waiting to be able to upload an avatar (I thought it was 3 days)
  10. I just bought Designer and Photo for the iPad and I thought that was my only option. Looking at entry levels ones. Do you mean go for an expensive drawing tablet with a screen? I figured they would probably be going for the same as a bottom range iPad.
  11. So if I get an iPad and buy one of the cheaper pens will I still get the functionality in terms of pressure that I need?
  12. OK so the example of the brush stroke shown is to illustrate the range of variation when using the pen in various controller settings? 💡 This wasn't clear to me since I've only ever used the mouse for this kind of thing. Sorry for throwing this up as a bug when it seems to not actually be a bug but I thought it was a bug. I'm glad it's not a bug and just me being a pleb. In my defence however, I initially started using the brushes under engraving which have default variability in stroke width built in to them so that kind of threw me. I also watched both tutorials on the Vector Brush Tool and Managing Vector Brushes and they don't explain this feature at all - in Managing Vector Brushes the guy just quickly mentions something about changing Size Variance but doesn't go into any detail as to what that does.
  13. Thanks. I have powered down for the night now though so I'll look into that in the morning.
  14. Mouse... Don't know what that means. What controller in what menu and why? I'm using the software, working my way through the tutorials and applying a bit of intuition and logic and if I press a button that appears to say it does something, and then it doesn't I'm not sure why that may have anything to do with some setting elsewhere (otherwise it seems fair to assume the button wouldn't then appear to be offering the functionality it does) ... if that makes sense. I'm not sure I'll even use this feature, but I might. I want to get to the bottom of this. Is it a bug or something I'm doing wrong.
  15. I took the plunge and bagged the full suite (Photo on Windows and Photo/Designer on iPad) to go with my existing purchase while they're on offer. Looking forward to taking things to the next level, and saving my wrist from getting knackered 👍
  16. I could try and do a video, but before I do let's see if the following three screen shots explains what I mean? Three brush strokes on three different settings. All look the same. Hopefully it's me that's doing something wrong and not a bug. If it's a bug though, then hopefully you can see what I mean. This is on the Windows version.
  17. How long will this deal be on for? I'm thinking about investing in an iPad and wouldn't mind picking up some apps half price. I already bought one copy of Designer for my mum's iPad so if I buy another copy then that effectively means I'll have paid the full price because my mum'll never use her copy - it was really just for me to try it out. I don't want to have to buy another full priced copy and then I'm effectively paying 150% of the price. I know she can share her apps with me but I'd rather own my own copy. It's just another tenner.
  18. I'm using a mouse and it applies to all the brushes, so far as I can see. Might just be Size and Opacity Variance that aren't having any effect. I guess maybe I haven't got to grips with the software yet, but these are basic operations that as far as I can see are not having any effect. If I change the Size or Opacity Variance the sample image changes to give me an idea what the brush looks like, but when I use it on the canvas it doesn't change. No matter how I alter the settings it just looks the same.
  19. I'm just working my way through things learning all the features, and it's become apparent to me that when I choose a brush when using the Vector Brush Tool, then double click on the brush from the menu to adjust the settings none of the settings actually do anything when I change them - with the sole exception of Brush Width. Size Variance, Opacity Variance, Pressure, the thing at the bottom with the vertical red lines - none of these features are having any effect on the brush stroke when I play about with them. Not sure if I'm missing something obvious, but at this point it's looking to me like this might be a bug?
  20. I looked at that, but I'm not sure how to use it. In any case, if I'm using a brush with predetermined setting for Size and Opacity Variance along the length of the stroke then I don't understand why I need to also set a pressure curve. I assume drawing styli have some kind of functionality related to pressure that mice don't, but if the result of pressure applied otherwise is already programmed into the nature of the brush stroke then why do I need this? The Opacity Variance bar also seems to have no effect (as well as Size). Are you saying I need to set a Pressure Curve for each setting I choose for those? That's makes no sense to me, because I would have assumed any details like that would be automatically coded within the brush settings. ... Actually.... the more I look into to this the more it's becoming clear that none of the settings in Brush Settings have any effect, with the exception of Brush Width.
  21. Mouse. I've tried adjusting the brush settings but it just draws a basic line. Unless I'm still missing something obvious this is starting to look like a bug. I'm looking at the brush settings on another brush and it looks like the Size Variance bar is having no effect.
  22. I'm using the 3rd one down in the Engraving menu, which has pointy ends and is fat in the middle. The two ones you directed me to in the Pen menu are similar, but with rounded ends. When I select those brushes and draw on the canvas they just draw a normal vector line that's the same stroke size along the entire length, no matter what stroke size I select, as though I was just drawing a line with the Pen Tool.
