  1. I think my HP M27fw Full HD 27" IPS LCD Monitor is sRGB same as my iPad 9th Generation. It's almost identical to the display on my XP-Pen Artist 13.3 pro. The colours on my iPad look richer though, even though it's also sRGB. I don't know which displays are more accurate. I guess if I'm not getting any more benefit from the iPad Air using Affinity then it's not worth the extra I suppose.
  2. Don't normally find I have to hit up tutorials for basic things? The active file page has options for naming and saving files and I thought that was the only way to do it - and it was acting weird. But if you click the icon at the top left from within active files it opens up options (Save and Save As) I didn't see before and they seem to work more conventionally, so I'll stick with them.
  3. I just found how to save files when in a document (not from the page you see when you open AD) and it automatically backed up to the cloud as well. So maybe a bit nearer to sussing this out..
  4. I don't know if this is just Apple iOS being the usual weirdo that it is, but I tend to work by getting so far and saving a copy of what I've done so far and archiving it and then renaming the file 1, 2, 3 etc. In Affinity Designer it seems to store the file you're working on for you so you can pick it up when you go back. But I like to make sure I have at least two copies of the work I've done at the end of the day saved somewhere. So in AD on the iPad you have to name the file you're working on and then save it. But if I rename the file and then try to save it in the same location it just saves the file under the previous name. In order to save the file under a new name I have to duplicate the file. What's that all about? I don't get it.
  5. I'm starting to get to grips with the basic iPad and it's a nice tablet, and the display is excellent. But I didn't do my research properly and I think I should have gone for the iPad Air. Not much difference in the resolution but the iPad Air (and the Pro and Mini) sport a wider colour gamut (P3) than the standard sRGB on the iPad. Also slightly bigger and more widescreen - better for watching Netflix. Is there much to be gained from the more advanced colour gamut? I still have the option to send this back if I want and cancel the contract, but I've gone and bought a 1st gen Pencil which isn't compatible with the Air so.. Now that I've gotten over the initial teething problems a la "where the **** is everything!?" I'm finding it quite a smooth and RSI free experience so far. But I wish I had an iPad Air. I've got an XP-Pen Artist 13.3 Pro as well and I'm wondering if I'm even going to use it now? The Apple Pencil works so much better than the XP-Pen pencil - just lightly tap and away you go. I experienced a little bit of lag with the XP-Pen on certain functions but on the iPad it's much more smooth.
  6. Thanks. I can't find my way around this iPad version! I'm trying to locate the Transform tool to do a basic horizontal flip and the entire internet is a vacuum of help. I tried CMD+H because CTRL+H does it on the Windows version but it just closed the app down..
  7. I mean Add in the Boolean toolbar. I can't find that on the iPad.
  8. I don't think so, they're just vector layers. Some of it's in groups though but that shouldn't matter.
  9. Sure. Thanks. I'm busy just doing what I wanted to do in Windows now so I'll look into this later.
  10. Exactly the same file - on windows - I can merge layers. On the iPad I select the same layers in the layers panel, then select the icon at the top and choose either Merge Down or Merge Selected. Nothing. Why? Why won't it merge the layers!
  11. Doesn't seem to be too much hassle just tapping on the fullscreen button anyway..
  12. Is there a shortcut key or a way to set a shortcut key for the fullscreen button?
  13. That's not going to help either - my mistake. I meant to post it in the Designer sub-forum EDIT - or did I? I'm not sure if I did and someone moved my thread...
  14. OK simple vector curve filled in with some paint brush splatter (1st image) 2nd image: fx > Colour Overlay turned on Tried changing the colour of fill and stroke on any and all colour wheels I can find, which do nothing
  15. It's iOS 15 brand new iPad 9th Gen. Don't know what you mean by Photo Version..
  16. Is there no way to set a Shortcut Key for this in Preferences?
  17. I'm trying to (re-)familiarise myself with the UI on the iPad and can't seem to get Effects > Colour Overlay (or fx > Colour Overlay as it is on the iPad) to allow me to change the colour of my Pixel Layers. When I turn this on it just changes the colour to Black! Or Grayscale. How is that colour Colour Overlay? That's Black Overlay. I guess it's something simple I'm doing wrong there, but what it is? I can't figure it out, therefore here I am asking you guys.
  18. You know what. I'm really regretting buying this thing now. Day 3 and more problems. I used to have Bluetooth connectivity issues all the time with my Apple Mouse and Keyboard, and just now I went to use the Apple Pencil and it's not working. I picked it up this morning after it was sitting overnight and it worked straight away. It says it's connected. I've plugged it into the lightning slot twice and it just won't work! How many times do I have to plug this thing into the iPad anyway? I would have thought ONCE and then after that it would just recognise it? EDIT - it was a loose tip. I looked around for solutions and this one came up. You need to keep the tip screwed on tight..
  19. I don't think the issues/problems I'm experiencing are down to me being unfamiliar with the new OS. I have used Apple before in the past, and I regularly do stuff for my Mum on her iPad.
  20. I steer clear of cheap Chinese technology these days. I think I might have mentioned the basic operation I'm unable to do at the start of the OP? And you have suggest an alternative way? If there's a Bluetooth app on Windows I can use that would be useful. The techie guy from Apple on the phone yesterday said I could look there, but the rest of the information he gave me wasn't very reliable so..
  21. Welcome to Apple World. You buy a device, then find out it doesn't perform basic operations that you would expect from such a device and you have to spend more money. The fact Affinity software is only available on Apple tablet devices is the sole reason I went back to Apple, otherwise I'd have given them the wide berth.
  22. The current basic iPad is still using the lightning connecter. Good to know there are options, but being set back having to buy cables and/or adaptors or having to use third party software isn't what I expect from Apple. They sell their products as being super slick and easy to use but some of the issues I've experienced since getting my new device is a bit of a joke.
  23. What are you talking about. iPads don't have USB slots? You talking about one of these things - only £40 Buy APPLE Lightning to USB Adapter | Free Delivery | Currys I never thought this was possible, because I've never owned an iPad or iPhone before. I hope this isn't my only option for file transfer if no internet available. In any case, will that even work between iOS and Windows? Different format.
