  1. Got it now - hold tap on the brush and it's in the settings for the brush. I'm sure I was using this brush without pressure variation before? So some brushes are set to pressure variation by default then? Might help if the app reflected this on the toolbar thingy where you can set the brush settings - or turning the Force Pressure on and off actually had an effect? I don't understand why it wasn't - maybe a bug?
  2. I was wrongly directed towards a Factory Reset 😠 I see how to do a Brush Reset but it didn't make any difference - still getting Pressure Variance whether I want it or not
  3. I can't see where this setting is on the V1 version - I'm still not getting any control over Pressure Settings!
  4. Got it cheers - I was looking on the Home Screen but didn't think of clicking on the little icon on the top right taking me to that page which I remember seeing before Managed to download some other brushes from the website and import those but couldn't see these dust brushes - got them now - thanks DM1 you saved my life!
  5. A brush reset will reset all your brushes AND remove any additional brush sets you have added Information that would have been useful to me before performing the brush reset! Oh by the way, this might remove some brush sets you have installed... 🤦‍♂️
  6. Will someone please tell me how to get these brushes back! I can't do any work now!!!! Am I going to be here in two hours still figuring this out again???
  7. Someone suggested I do a Brush Reset in another thread - and all it's done is remove set of brushes I was using! Namely the Dust Brushes Strokes by xresch No longer there on my iPad app - and I'm right in the middle of using those brushes! How do I get them back???
  8. Well I tried a Brush Reset and all that happened was I lost a whole load of brushes including the Dust Brushes I was using! 😒 They're not there now! How do I get them back???
  9. El Dusto Brushes are working really nice and I think I'm getting the right balance across the whole design now - got a nice slightly distant morning cloud effect going from one of the Dust Brushes maybe? I feel like downloading overlays is cheating a bit - unless it's your own overlay in which case it's not I still appreciate the overlays Bit of contrast between shaded layers and purebloods, ie. plain white layers maybe? (by purebloods I mean any plain colour) I always start with loads of colour and end up going nearly monochrome as well - I find sticking to either black or white for effects on a one-two colour canvas is a good way to start
  10. I mean - doesn't matter whether I select Force Pressure or not I get Variation with Pressure I'm sure it wasn't doing this earlier today when i was using some of the Dust Stroke Brushes Now I have to press really hard to get the effect I was seeing earlier, or set the brush so high it's way larger that the area I'm working on Bug?
  11. Going to look into texture overlays - if I do though I'd probably use something from my backlog of photography going back 15 years - lots of nice patterns in there that could be useful that I took specifically for potential future use For this though I think I'm going to go for some subtle dust brushes - anything more than that isn't working or requires a lot of time blending layers together and it will probably end up completely changing the design which at the moment is quite a nice cartoon illustration
  12. I might change the brush effect - it's no finished yet I did actually think it was a nice snow effect and intend to use this for an alternative design (using the same design) But the design (as it is now) is supposed to be more "cartoon" than "realistic" so this brush effect could work for either Finding the right brush effect is the hardest part I find
  13. Makes sense - but the thing is if I apply a Pixel Effect on an Object it WILL apply to the Pixel layers below as well - which seems inconsistent with this explanation somewhat and can lead to confusion with other (vector) effects
  14. I'm sure there are multiple ways to achieve the effect I want - but this thread was about working out why the method I chose wasn't working - because who knows I might want to use this method again in the future for something else Convoluted ways of doing stuff is often a feature of the design process (and sometimes better for making adjustments) and then I usually figure out better ways once the desired effect has been achieved (if possible)
  15. I'll take your word for it - maybe there is a valid reason why it's set this way that I don't yet fully grasp? What you're saying about the TG applying to Vector Fills does kind of make sense
  16. Yes - because Transparency Gradient wasn't working! So I thought Fill Tool might be what I needed to use - but now Transparency Gradient does work (albiet in a completely counter-intuitive way)
  17. Yes you applied the fade in the wrong direction - hence why I initially through it wasn't the effect I was looking for - but further inspection revealed your Group trick so it all worked out in the end - cheers Apparently you can apply all kinds of effects to pixel layers contained within objects from the effects panel - but for some reason Transparency Gradient requires this to be applied from a group A bit of consistency in the way all the features of this software work would be really useful!
  18. Save your critique of my art until it's finished - how it looks right now is not the issue and I am also actually planning on using this pixel layer for snow as well as it happens. If it has a nice transparency gradient then Hey Presto! it then looks like stars! Bit of context within the whole design is everything. What I wanted to achieve (now achieved by simply placing the object within a group) is all explained in the title of this thread - the file you posted up just added a sun and applied nothing to the pixel layer But thanks all the same for your help - I guess there has been some communication issues due to language differences
  19. I can see it now - the difference here is that the object I'm trying to apply the transparency gradient to is contained within a GROUP - If you apply a Transparency Gradient directly to the object it doesn't affect the pixel layer However, - If the object is contained within a Group and you apply the Transparency Gradient to the Group then it affects the Pixel layer as well (which is what you are trying to illustrate) Because that's completely the most intuitive way of setting things up 🤦‍♂️ I've just wasted a couple of hours trying to figure this out because the software is set this way! If I apply an effect to an object I EXPECT IT APPLY TO ALL LAYERS WITHIN THAT OBJECT!!!! If I don't want the effect to apply to specific child-layers then I will place those layers in a different Object or Group! This software does my head in sometimes..
  20. What bit of that file contains a pixel layer with a transparency gradient (or a similar effect or way of doing this)? Don't know what you're trying to show there but this is not the effect I'm looking for According to this page "You can also apply a gradient to pixel layers, adjustment layers and layer masks using the Fill Tool" Gradient editing (affinity.help) So I'm off to try and figure this out on my own. Thanks to everyone for the help..
