I'm transitioning from Ai CS6 to Affinity Designer and I'm looking for the best way to preserve the layers when opening EPS files. When I open my EPS files in AD it loses the layers. I found that sometimes opening in Illustrator and saving in SVG will preserve the layers but not all of the time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
UPDATE:
After a lot of experimenting using Corel Draw 2020, Graphic converter, VectorStyler, and every other vector app I have installed, the only way I can get an EPS in to Designer with the layers intact is to open with Illustrator and save as SVG and then open the SVG with Designer. This is OK for now but I'd like to upgrade my Mac and I will lose Illustrator (using CS6) unless I pay Adobe's extortion fees. I use a lot of clip art for t-shirt design and often have to pull elements out and when all the objects are on a single layer it becomes very time consuming. Maybe if someone have MACOS Vectornator and can try that please let me know.
