Hi all. Thanks for your patience over the weekend when our offices were closed.
We've had a meeting this morning and decided to ALSO offer MSI installers to those people who would like them. I can't tell you when this will happen, as there is engineering work that will be required to allow this to happen, but we hope it won't be long.
    Thanks for your feedback!

Mark, The majority of the benefits you cite appear to lie in reducing Serif's support burden as it pertains to the installation of the software, which I can appreciate as being an important business level metric you need to keep on top of - unnecessary support costs nail business profitability.
The very few user benefits apparent in that document (clean uninstall, signed updates) are minor enough that they're well outweighed by the inconveniences users are experiencing. Said inconveniences are already visibly causing Serif a support burden that I suspect outweighs the support burden associated with Affinity V1 installs, if the length of this thread and the numerous other related threads are anything to go by.

You don't understand because everyone is different. For example, I have different drives and different folders on my system. I have all of my general utilities under D:\Tools and my development tools under D:\DevTools. I have general purpose software in C:\GeneralApps. This helps me with backups and management of the stuff that I work with. It's easy for me to configure the various applications when I need them to integrate with each other. It's the way that I am comfortable working and fits in my workflow and processes. Affinity is the first serious application that insists on being a Windows App. Can I work around it? Sure, and I have, but that's not the point. You aren't seeing something as a problem for you and are extrapolating that onto everyone else. Sure, it's possible to work around these issues but people shouldn't need to.
For me, I really appreciate what Serif has done by providing a very good non-subscription alternative to Adobe. I also appreciate their extremely fair upgrade policy. I have no problem paying for an upgrade. I am going to get 1 license of V2 to support them and hold off on the other 3 until I see what happens with the installations.

    Yeah, not good enough though
Still a lot of questions concerning updates and such like.
I emailed Affinity directly, they still haven't responded yet.

    Hello Mark,
I've read the topic. But I still have a "simple" question: why not both?
Is there any chance that the .exe version will be implemented as an option in the near future?

That's a real pity. Affinity tools are excellent and it's sad to see people claiming a refund just because the packaging is broken. Hopefully the devs will realise that this MSIX packaging causes lots of problems for users and revert to a standard installation model. Hopefully you'll join the ranks of users again once they fix it.

I just reinstalled v2 to test.
It does have a Move button in Settings on Windows 10.
However, you still can't specify where it goes.
It automatically creates a WindowsApp folder, with locked permission.
So, that means on every update you have to go through this process of "moving" it.
Still not I want to be done. HATEIT

Please make this a normal exe install again so we do not have to go through any troubleshooting procedures at all. Thank you.

I never liked apps without a proper installer. Not transparent, no choices. Only problems.

Just bought the Suite and could not find the installation files so was unable to create shortcuts and worse unable to find a way to run the software! The only way I could launch the software was to double-click on the downloaded installation files which gave me the option to Launch from there. Total irritation and confusion.
However in the meantime after much faffing about through the Forum I discovered to my dismay that these are "App" files and do not install into the Program folder of my C drive and do not appear in my Programs & Features... How do I uninstall them?
I absolutely hate this unexplained change to installing/removing software and am not happy with the way this has been implemented, particularly as no advanced notification (as far as I could tell) was given.
I very much like what Serif is doing with Affinity and love the software but cannot stand this insane change to the standard installation procedure.
Please Serif fix this unwanted installation mess asap. and please retain some independence from the dumbing-down that Micro$oft continually applies to Windows in the so-called attempt to make it better.
    I sincerely hope you listen.

This is a feature that was been previously requested and may be added in a future update/version.

Would it be possible to export the complete settings used to adjust a RAW file, and then import that one file with the complete settings if you need to re-open that RAW file at a later date with those specific settings.  I understand that you can set up presets, but I need to have a complete record of RAW adjustments and then may need to reopen that RAW file with those settings as a starting point for further readjustments.  The ability to export those RAW setting upon post production prior to development and then re-import the settings applied to a particular RAW file would save a lot of us the much time spent on writing down all the adjustments made to a particular RAW file so we can reproduce the result.
    Thank you for your consideration.
