I just figured it out. I imported the objects from another app. They were placed into layers which I mistakenly thought were already “grouped” and when I selected the group, it behaved as if it was not grouped, selecting a curve instead. I thought I’d read something about this as a new feature? Maybe not. In any case by grouping each layer, it behaved as a group. So … Thankyou… for your due diligence.

I can ONLY select from layers panel. I don’t work this way. I cannot select objects by double clicking on the artboard. I have tried everything. I have done reset and hard reset on ipad. I have reset settings. I wrote to the forum and submitted several requests for help. Please tell me how to Re install 2.1 since it seemed to work there. PLEASE HELP. It’s very simple, sending the file is not going to help explain what I’m trying to do although it may give you an opportunity to see the problem first hand and try and accomplish what I want to do, although it doesn’t seem like you even think there’s a problem. So I’m trying to edit and move different aspects of art board 1 that will reflect in changes in art board 2. I like to edit and move these aspects (motifs, objects composed of curves, whatever you want to call it) from within the art board rather than by using the layers menu. I used to be able to double click on the individual components to select them and make the changes. Now I cannot do this. I see you are a member. Do you work for affinity?

I’ve tried to slow this down. I am mindful of using the move tool, but as you can see, the only way I can select the group is with the layers panel. That’s great, however it’s not how I prefer to work. I like to select the motif or group from the art board. This has never been a problem before. As you can see from this short recording, the only way I can select an object is to use the layers panel and click on the entire objects contents. I cannot click, double click or triple click on an object to select it in its entirety. I am asking for help. Please. RPReplay_Final1698696511.mp4

In V2 for ipad, When I try and select an object, I get a tiny part of the object. Sometimes a node. Where did the ability to select an object by double clicking go? I had everything set up perfectly but then I had other erratic behavior problems forcing me to get a new ipad. Word to the wise, use ONLY MAC CHARGING BRICKS. Please HELP!

running iPad Pro (3) Version: 16.6 Everytime I try to export, affinity crashes.

Ever since upgrading to 2.1 on photo, publisher and designer everything has slowed down. I spend way too much time waiting for something to appear. Please advise. I’m working on an iPad Pro 12.9 (5th generation), running iOS 16.4.1.

Last night before i received your instructions about show touches, i went thru the preferences and turned on and off somethings without keeping a record of what i was doin and this problem seems to have resolved itself. I will however, send you a recording if it starts to happen again.

I can’t even use this program until this issue is resolved.

@Callum. This will do no good because you won’t be able to see my hand holding the pencil and tapping the screen. Nothing happens. Nothing is selected. Sometimes a tiny pop up will say “0 objects”. But that’s it. I ave no idea what is wrong. Now I’m concerned that the program is corrupted and i will lose all my files if I try and reinstall. It feels like te select tool is somehow turned off. I’m not the only person reporting this problem. I’ve removed screen protector, I’ve replaced Apple Pencil tips with no change. Please help.

I thought it was just a fluke at first but I’m having a great deal of trouble selecting objects. I am drilling down on an object to get to it but the little pop-up says 0 objects. This is happening repeatedly. Is it because i have many objects in my assets folder? Is it because the pattern designs are complex? Please help. This is incredibly frustrating.

The large orange bug in the almost center of the live preview is doubled. Can’t say how this happens. I’ve deleted it and reinstalled it several times and it seems to be a problem with the half drop design. This is not the first time this has happened with v.2 not sure I’ve seen it in version 1. Please fix. Please.I BUGS.afdesign

I have just finished taking a course by Liz Kohler Brown on Skillshare in which she demonstrates using affinity designer for surface repeat patterns and demonstrates how to create a half drop pattern. The problem I’m having is compatibility with illustrator. I need to deliver ai files and I have some specific tasks I need to do in illustrator. The only problem is that I can not seem to export a full pattern. If I look at the tiny little symbol picture that contains all the elements that are reflected in the second artboard, That’s what I need to export. Not the design with the contained square. Please someone help!
