I bought the Affinity 2 Universal Licence through the Mac App Store but when I open Publisher (the app I bought the Universal Licence through) and it presents the Register your app screen and I click on the Existing Customer Sign In link and enter my Attiinity ID/Password nothing happens… the progress indicator spins and then stops without any change to the dialog box and as such does not register the Universal Licence.

  2. same thing here too…

    Hi @Olufemi,

When you purchase from Apple's App store, they do not pass on the purchase information to us, you need to either create an account with us via the prompt when launching or sign in with your existing Affinity ID on the app that you made the purchase.

This will then tell us that you made the purchase, and activate any of our apps once you sign in to them.

so does this means that you have to "sign in" for each app and for each Family Sharing copy when installed?

However...... If purchased on the App Store... it doesn't actually say whether or not it is honored for family sharing. I'm thinking it won't be since there wouldn't be a sparate validation number?  This is kinda a big deal when you have multiple devices in the house so I wish it was specified.  It just says "Some in-app purchase may be sharable" Be nice to know if they are or aren't ya know?

    from the FAQs…

    • How many devices can I install Affinity apps on?
    • As a private individual you can install Affinity apps on as many devices as you own which run the operating system you have purchased a licence for (of course in the case of a Universal Licence that means you can install on any iPads, Macs or Windows PCs you own). Other people (for example, members of your household) are also allowed to use the apps on those devices. However, only you are allowed to use the apps for commercial use—if any members of your household need to make commercial use of the apps as well they will need to purchase their own licence.
  5. From my reading of what @StevenS gave the link for there appears to be no difference between the Serif or AppStore purchases… both give the 30 day trial and then you can upgrade either for the app or to the Universal License version… with purchases from both stores you have to activate the license by logging into your Affinity account or making one and once done your license is valid for either the single app or the universal license depending upon which one you purchased.
So it seems that the only real difference is how you would like to update the app/apps… automatically via the AppStore or manually unless it is now automatically done from Affinity/Serif.

  6. [EDIT] I think I found the answer here…

Hi… deciding where to buy the Affinity V2 Universal Licence from…

if bought from Serif how are the iPad versions "upgraded" from their trial versions that you download?

is it by logging into one's Affinity/Serif account? if so, if on multiple iPads in the household, are the apps only needed to be "activated" once on one of the iPads and all the other installs will automatically be activated?

Yeah we noticed that, the reason we wanted it was because the idml file was reporting a massive size for one of the images and we weren't sure if it was correct (we think it's the file called April Graduation 20185), if you could send us all of the resources it would help us investigate this a bit further, but glad it's fixed for you!

just sent the ID packaged file... it would be the image you refered to as it is a large file... hopefully it helps you folks out.

    cheers from a sunny Oz

    @TrevorML

Is it possible for you to re-upload it but with all the external resources?

was in the process of uploading the ID package for the file and as it was taking FOREVER 🙂 I decided to try opening the IDML from the package… previously when it kept crashing Publisher I only had access @ home to the IDML… and low and behold it worked absolutely fine, so it appears that if the IDML has external resources and they are not available it will crash, and not when they are available.

cheers and thanks for the speedy looking into this.

  9. [EDIT: ignore this post… have since bought AD and AP and found through searching the forum more that you can import the PANTONE swatches…

    absolutely fantastic software… thanks

    cheers T]

    Hi MEB… I am a hopeful AD/AP/APub user :-)

in a thread elsewhere in the forum, one of the Affinity team said that they would be adding in PANTONE support "very soon" and that it was intimated that it was pretty much ready to go, but that was back in Oct 2014 which is getting close to 12 months ago and it seems there is still no PANTONE support… being in print design this is a killer for me, as is the inclusion of printer/crop marks which is a real pity as I REALLY REALLY want to start using AD right now… so, how much longer before PANTONE is in?

    cheers from OZ
