  1. I know this has been requested several times... One earlier post for this dates to 2018! But it's not yet been added to Affinity Photo. But what if I told you, Affinity Photo used to have this basic feature of raw development? You can even see it in this video tutorial! (Screenshot below). Is there any chance this feature can be added back to affinity? Pretttty please? 😁 I wonder why it was removed in the first place. Anyone remember if there was something wrong with it?
  2. I would like to add a big YES PLEASE to this one! 😁 I often end up resorting to using gimp because of its open as layers feature. Actually there's a few features in gimp I wish affinity had (and vice versa, affinity photo has some great features for sure like the blend ranges.) It would be nice too if HDR or focus stacking features could be done from layers instead of having to open files from that menu.
  3. No, though since I updated to the recent affinity version the images are now too light. This is regardless of whether or not HDR mode in Windows is enabled or no. In any case, as before I also ensured the HDR-SDR brightness balance was set appropriately in Windows. So, the problem has somewhat changed forms now. Below is a screenshot of the rendering of an 8 bit out of camera JPEG. The image should appear with very dark shadows as it was taken looking into the forest. It seems like affinity might not be color managed, or that the color management isn't working properly. Is Affinity Photo color managed outside of 32 bit mode with "ICC Display Transform" enabled? Affinity Photo - sRGB Affinity Photo -- With Display profile assigned as you suggest. Any other color managed application (this is taken from GIMP, but is identical in darktable or rawtherapee or even the older color managed windows photo viewer)
  4. Heck, I'd be happy if the raw developer even had support for input profiles. Funny thing is that they used to, apparently. This older tutorial video shows and mentions the camera and output profiles. I wouldn't count on being able to use the DCP profiles since they took away the ability to use an ICC profile for a camera profile.
  5. I have a new 10-bit HDR + Wide Color Gamut monitor. Affinity photo version: 1.10 Windows build: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 19042) (19041.vb_release.191206-1406) Details of my graphics / monitor configuration: Windows HD Color : On Display Capabilities: Use HDR : Yes , Use WCG: Yes Color Profile: Rec2020 Gamma 2.2 (D65 White Point) Disabling the "Use HDR" option under Windows HD Color settings does allow affinity photo to display SDR content properly, but at the extent of every other application I use which work properly with windows HDR. Affinity is the odd one out here, and nothing in the options/preferences in Affinity Photo seem to allow configuration of display color rendering, only the working space. I have also tried changing my monitor's color profile, and adjusting the relative brightness of SDR content in the Windows HD Color settings. Affinity photo rendering of an SDR image with Windows HDR enabled. Affinity Photo rendering of SDR content with Windows HDR disabled. As rendered by any other app (Darktable, Rawtherapee, GIMP, etc) with Windows HDR enabled SDR content as rendered by other apps with windows HDR disabled To reiterate, colors are rendered most properly in all other apps I have except Affinity with Windows HDR enabled. Affinity only looks proper with it disabled. The relative changes in rendering are invariant with respect to my chosen display profile. So, while I am going to get a colorimeter to fine tune my display profile that will not solve the problem here. Leaving HDR off hence would make for an unappealing look to content as rendered in most other programs, and changing the setting every time I tab over to a different program is kind of a pain. Is there any way to make Affinity behave consistently with my other apps in displaying SDR content with windows HDR enabled? I suspect Affinity just hasn't yet integrated color management of SDR content for HDR mode (at least, in Windows). If the behavior of Affinity shown here is intentional, why has it been designed to render SDR content differently in HDR mode compared to other apps?
  6. I'm not the original poster but the main feature I find sorely missing is the ability to allow input ICC profiles. Currently, Affinity Photo's raw developer only allows a destination profile to be selected. It is customary for a raw developer to allow an input ICC profile to be selected, which applies the profile to the raw RGB data before it has been converted to another profile such as sRGB, ProPhoto, etc (this is a really important point**). Then, the image is converted to whatever working or display profile is desired. Examples of this can be seen in ufraw, rawtherapee, and darktable. **The key reason for this is that applying the input profile to the demosaiced camera-space RGB data renders the image in a more photometrically correct way (assuming a neutral profile constructed with a color checker and xrite/dcamprof/argyll is used) without changing the underlying RGB values. It's important to note that this is by applying the profile, not converting to the input profile. Doesn't make a difference if a Lab-lut icc profile is used for the input, but for applying a matrix profile it's important. Then converting to the destination profile allows one to use a normal working space for editing while preserving the look of the input profile.
  7. Having used Affinity Photo for about a week, I have to say overall I very much like the software! It runs smoothly, and I love that I can use Luminar, Nik Collection, and Topaz AI photoshop plugins with it. That being said, there are some features that I miss or would love to see. Some of these have been brought up before on these forums, but hopefully mentioning them will highlight that they are features most users would like to see. In order of priority.. Support for input color profiles, of ICC (and DCP if possible) type, for color management in photography. This mostly pertains to the develop persona module, but input ICC profile support for the overall photo editor would be nice too. The reason is that the ability to switch input profiles for a photo on the fly is helpful when applying different calibrated color profiles for different illuminants, such as those created with Lumariver Profile Designer, dcamprof, etc. The typical workflow for editing photos in programs like darktable, rawtherapee, etc, is input color profile -> working space profile -> output color profile. The white balance tool should automatically select tint as well as temperature. It only seems to select both when editing a raw photo in the develop persona, but working with a tiff file in the develop persona or regular interface does not do so. This makes it very difficult to get a correct looking white balance no matter if I average several splots, use the box selection method, or a single point. I can't think of any photo editor with a spot white balance tool that I have used which doesn't do this, so it is somewhat frustrating. Consider adding the LCH color adjustment sliders and blend modes in addition to HSL. LCHab and LCHuv are cylindrical transformations of the LAB and LUV color spaces respectively, and either one would be a welcome alternative to HSL. LCH color space is more perceptually uniform and the lightness component behaves more closely to how humans perceive color. This makes it more useful as a tool for adjusting color in photography edits. If Affinity really wanted to be ahead of the curve, the JCH02 and JCH16 color spaces based on CIECAM02/CIECAM16 are even better improvements. Likewise, Jab (the CIECAM counterpart to LAB) curves would be welcome in the curves adjustments too.
  8. Serif Yeah, there wasn't any other recently installed software. That's why I thought perhaps the Affinity installer had been infected. I figured it was very improbable for that to be the case, but there were no other recent downloads, installations, or visits to websites outside the usual , so I thought I should bring it up here just in case a hacker had gotten to your site. I was able to get it removed, though, so all is well.
  9. After downloading the latest Affinity Photo today after purchasing a copy for Windows, my Chrome browser started to do something odd. When using the search bar a the top of the browser, all searches redirect through a website called trovi.com, or charmsearching.com at times, before being passed off to bing. Strangely, there is nothing in the search engine settings suggesting a different web browser has been added. I only have Google. I checked the full query URL and it's normal. I pretty much go on amazon.com, youtube, and faceboo, sometimes reddit, so I haven't been on any suspicious websites, and haven't downloaded anything else in recent history besides this program. Could be a coincidence but it's an unusual one, to say the least, that this would start immediately after downloading Affinity Photo. Just wanted to bring this to the attention of the tech guys in case their website was hacked and malware added to Affinity or something. Meanwhile I'm going to keep trying to figure out where this malware is living so I can remove it
