Thanks for all the input! it's been a real help in determining what portable device I get. As for ipad owners - can I ask if it's a Pro and what memory capacity you guys have? I was told to max out the memory and get pro only....but it's quite above my current budget...so I'm trying to see if I can run Affinity on a lesser either regular ipad or a pro but with only 128 GB memory. Thanks

Sorry let me clarify - I do have a desktop - This is how I made the post - lol. I ALSO had a laptop...which was peacefully laid to rest. I am debating between either an ipad or another laptop for travel(aka hiding in the library during summer months) use. Thanks for all the opinions though! It have been really useful in my pro/con lists!

So I purchased the V2 Universal License bundle a while back. While it works on my desktop...(some buggy issues), my recently ignored laptop(acer nitro gaming) got upset and swelled and then was put down peacefully last month. I am debating between an Ipad(pro I guess?) and a new gaming laptop for running Designer mainly. I do create works with lots(LOTS) of layers/sublayers. I was told that the Ipad could only handle a fraction of what I was doing. Thoughts from current users? Your help much appreciated!

I've noticed even though I have unclicked the hardware acceleration which has improved the response time of designer V2, whenever I add/delete or open an asset menu, it freezes or alerts me that the software has "stopped responding" and lags before completing command - anyone else?

Seriously Affinity? How is just separately highlighting the brush type from changing parameters so hard that you can't remember that the brush used when selecting previous vector strokes? My god... Adobe had this on lock since the early 90's with AI.....Simple answer....British engineering....No wonder the brits will never catchup....sigh I guess we will be waiting for this "bug" to be fixed till end of time....

Dunno if this helps....when I bought a new desktop(Acer NITRO), I basically MAXXED out the RAM capability of the computer(64GB). Yes it's definitely overkill, but funnily enough...a LOT less crashes, even with brush changes, color changes etc. Stuff that normally wouldn't even make AI blink. It does crash still sometimes, but a lot less rarely...I also keep the internet/wifi/ethernet disabled.

While I was sooo excited to see this...again sorely disappointed...Expand Stroke in AI actually converts ANY stroke(art, pattern, etc) into a traced vector shape....While AD isnt bad....it's expand stroke only seems to work on a very rudimentary level. Tried expanding paint strokes....nope nada, zilch...Maybe next time guys? And Honestly....AD needs to do a better job of explaining what each function applies or doesn't apply to.

So yeah, tried the CMD run as admin scan...nada. no violations... any other reasons that AD and AP are 'not responding" upon launching...?, Yes I tried the no hardware acceleration...it was never selected in the 1st place.

So I have installed the upgrade to 1.9.2 for all Affinity programs....only now are they constantly "stop responding"...is it because of a wacom tablet or something else? AD - keeps "not responding" after a couple of brushstrokes or even after modifying stroke pressure or other tabs. AP - keeps "not responding" and shuts down after loading. Any suggestions?

So having followed every tutorial and video on how to create a new brush(textured intensity) Every stroke design I exported/Imported still ends up as a white bar. Notes - Tried selecting transparency background - PNG shows transparent background - but when brought in for texture intensity brush - it invalidates it and shows a solid white bar in the brush palette. Tried slicing the brush image then followed the previous technique - same result. Any suggestions as to what went wrong....? Tried the texture image brush - but couldn't change the color of the strokes.

I feel a bit daft.....but WHERE is the contour tool...? I recently upgraded to AD 1.9.2(PC) but can't seem to find the contour tool....is it under layers? or named something else? Thanks
