  1. Hello Dan, When I tried to disable 1 of the 2 iCloud Drive settings in Photo, both settings changed at the same time. I could not move just one slider. Consequently, I turned them both off, and all my Photo files seem to open correctly. I tried the same change for Designer and my files also loaded correctly. With the changes that you made to my file, it seems that you confirmed that iCloud Drive remains an issue. Do you think that there is an installation issue? As I mentioned, there are 2 dependent iCloud Drive settings in both Photo and Designer, but there are 0 iCloud Drive settings in Publisher. Shouldn't Publisher also have the same issue? Thank you very much for getting me started again! Robert
  2. Thank you Hangman for your helpful comments.
  3. Hello Dan, The file that you sent me opens in just a few seconds, and works perfectly!! None of my other files work properly as load times are still very long. BTW, I have the same problem when opening files with Designer. I have attached the 2 screenshots that you requested. Notice that iCloud Drive seems to vibe enabled twice for both Designer and Photo. Seems odd. Thank you for your help!
  4. Hello Dan C, I have uploaded a sample file. FYI, all my tries have been on either m1 Pro or M2 Pro Macs running Sonoma 14.1. Please let me know if you need other files. Thanks!
  5. Hello Hangman, I tried your suggestions, but did not see any improvement in load times, which remind about 3.5 hours. I could not get the canvas to display anything but the outline of a layer when it is selected. I ran another test to see if the problem was associated with files created under a previous operating system, but now managed under Sonoma. I copied all the layers from a previous document into a new document, saved, and then tried to reload. The results unfortunately are the same. Thanks again for the suggestions. In the absence of any other suggestions, i just have to wait for the fix from Affinity.
  6. Let me answer questions posed in the Affinity post I am running Sonoma 14.1.1. The previous Mac version was Ventura 13.6.2 All Affinity apps are version 2.2.1 No Antivirus/Malware/Adware apps are installed. Documents are on the local disk drive in a shared folder. I have tried moving them to non-shared, local folders with no difference in the loading issue. Both iCloud Drive and Dropbox run on my machines.
  7. Thanks, Hangman. I removed Sync from iCloud for all the Affinity applications, but the load times are still gigantic. I let one file open overnight, Photo believes that it has finished loading, but nothing is displayed. As shown in the attached screenshot, the layers are turned on, but nothing shows in the display window.
  8. Thanks for trying! Yes, all of my current version 2 files used to open in seconds on my Macs; now they take several hours. This is obviously an unworkable situation. A post by Affinity elsewhere in the Forum indicates that they do not know the cause and have not been able to reproduce it. They did mention that they are investigating the interplay of Photo on Mac OS Sonoma.
  9. I am unable to load any previously created documents into either Designer 2.2.1 or Photo 2.2.1 in a reasonable amount of time, if at all. I am using Mac OS Sonoma 14.1. I have tried files that have been either stored locally, in iCloud drive, or in Dropbox and have the same problem under all circumstances. I read another Forum thread that describes the same problem, and suggested waiting long periods of time. Accordingly, I have waited more than an hour for a file to open in Designer and have waited 3+ hours without the documents successfully loading in Photo. I also opened a second document in Designer with the first one still open and had wait times similar to the first one. To provide an example, here is link to a 300MB file for Photo that does not load for me: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/9lt9xibnz2oyv1enviqe6/pudgyDalmations30x36A.afphoto?rlkey=likjnop9y404jxouf2emoaty5&dl=0
  10. Yes, AP seems to have many features that AD does not, but could use. I think that AD could benefit from more general transformation tools to alleviate the burden of trying to be a bit more rigorous about design. I could generate some things in a CAD program and then project to 2D, but AD doesn't seem to accept a DXF file either.
  11. Thank you for the information. Perhaps Affinity will provide perspective transformations as part of an upgrade.
  12. Affinity would apply a procedural calculation to all the nodes based on relative position.
  13. Yes, non-uniform scaling plus shear would give a good approximation to a perspective transformation for reasonably flat renditions of objects. What you show is fine, but I do not want to do that for tons of objects. For example, construct a large wall of brick-shaped objects. I would like to apply a single transformation to the wall to mimic perspective.
  14. I understand, but what if you have an arbitrarily large collection of curves within a bounding box. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to differentially scale the collection?
  15. Thank you, but I meant something a little different. Suppose you start with a square, and you want to construct a trapezoid by applying one scale factor to the bottom line and a different scale factor to the top line. a point on the sidelines would separate promotional to its distance from the 2 lines.
  16. Is there a way to non-uniformly scale a drawing? I can only find uniform scaling, rotation, and shear.
  17. Hello, I am working on a Mac, and have both the Left Studio and Right Studio checked in the Studio options. Neither the Macro nor the Library options appear in either the Designer Persona or Pixel Persona. Any suggestions? Thank you.
  18. I resonate with the need to support dxf import. For me, the direct use of a dxf file exported from CAD software would permit the integrated use of both Affinity and a 3D object. The online dxf-to-svg converters that I have tried fail on complicated sketches and seem to handle scale fairly arbitrarily. The proper handling of dxf by AD would solve these problems.
  19. Yes, but the behavior could still be toggled by the Transform Objects Separately, and you would have the most flexibility.
  20. Yes, thanks that works, but I would have expected that the toggle for Transform Objects Separately would change the behavior of rotate and scale of all the objects contained in the Group when the Group is selected. Then, you could still have the fine control of which objects to use by selecting subsets of all the objects from the expanded group.
  21. I am using AD version 1.9.2 on Mac Big Sur version 11.2.3. The Transform Objects Separately does not seem to work for me. I have attached a screen shot, showing that the dotted lines do not appear. Is there something that I can do?
