    Thanks Gabriel
A most peculiar limitation (in terms of using images for multiple purposes) but glad to know I'm not missing something simple.

"And does anyone know the difference in "Book" versus "Booklet" in that setting?"
In "booklet" it produces a single signature, that is to say if you print 12 pages on three sheets of paper you can simply fold the bundle in half, staple and lo! you have a booklet.
Now what you would hope for in Book is that it would print multiple signatures as that's how a book is bound - basically a stack of booklets sewn together. So if you had three sheets of paper per signature in would print pages 1-12 in the first stack of three, 13-24 in the next. Unfortunately AP seems to assume there is but one sheet per signature so you get pages 1-4 on one sheet (printed 4-1-2-3), 5-8 on the next, so it's a book, but with only one sheet per signature.

What are you trying to achieve? Changing the dpi doesn't downsample anything. To downsample you need to resize an image, not change the nominal dpi.

    two options spring to mind:

1 ) FX >  Color Overlay. Pick any color you want: spot, 100% one of the process colors.... whatever.

2 ) Draw a box (large enough to contain the artwork) with fill set to your desired color. Place brush work in mask position.

I haven't checked preferences for the simple reason it turns itself on and off seemingly at random. The trackpad works perfectly with all other applications all the time; it's just hit and miss with Affinity. So I think something inside Affinity is deciding whether it wants to cooperate with pinch/spread to zoom and canvas rotate.

    @clarkj, @emfx,
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums
The larger download size is mainly due to a complete and comprehensive set of new brushes, the textures of which are high quality and have made this downloads larger. The mac updates have delta patches so should not be this large again. Reinstalling would still be large.

It's probably too late and not relevant anymore, but I had similar issue. I found out that when exporting you can assign specific resolution for each slice. You just have to press this small triangle on the left of the slice name in slices window. There you have some options to set width, height, magnitude, etc. This solved my problem. Not exactly setting dpi, but it worked for me.

    Similar problems in 1.7.0.206
Scale value resets to 100% after printing and Range doesn't reflect what you set.
When you tab after selecting All / Even / Odd / Current the number of pages doesn't change - so if you select "odd" in a six-page document the preview changes to three pages; but you can't get back to six.
    It forgets the document model.

I'm certainly not writing you off and will buy a licence as an act of faith. There's a fine line between making a noise about what we're needing to recommend Publisher as highly as the other two apps and sounding critical. I suppose part of the problem is we're sitting here comparing the very fine 1.6 apps with a 0.9 version that's numbered 1.7. No doubt if you had done Publisher first we'd be sitting here moaning about the early versions of Designer. Comments notwithstanding the overall impression is "Here's a pretty solid start", as if Henry Ford had started with the Escort and we're moaning about the lack of satnav.
Have a good weekend, relax and groove on Monday.

Me too re books. However the Book option in print would be close enough for me if only it allowed you to choose the number of sheets per signature, which would not be the toughest piece of coding in the world!

You can definitely pick the colour from the correct side and brush over on a new layer and adjust the blending mode/opacity to suit your needs, or you can use the Colour Replacement Brush tool.

Oh  my goodness me, Toltec! You're right - that is so much easier - I can achieve in ten seconds what was ten minutes work.

So the selection brush is optimised for photographing contre-jour meerkats while quick mask is more suitable for nineteenth-century African models of a half-naked Queen Victoria.

    Sorted!

Refine mask. like any automatic process, does depend on the image.

If you are using Photo, You can use Quick Mask (Press Q) then you can paint on the mask (black or white paint) with the paintbrush.

You can also change the mask colour, from red to black, white or transparent.

It would be handy if when selecting on a sampler in the palette and hitting Delete, the sampler is deleted, and not the currently selected layer in the layers palette...

David Edge reacted to R C-R in Not seeing ColorSync or any color management choice in Print
For what it is worth, on Macs the pop up choices below the Orientation section in the printer dialog are provided by the OS. They vary depending on the printer selected, the print driver software installed & used for it, & usually include one or more application specific choices.

So for example, a monochrome laser printer will not show any Color Matching or other color options, regardless of the app you are printing from, but for both color & monochrome printers you usually get choices for paper handling, layout, & cover pages, plus any others the app supports, like the artboard ones for AD or the background & header ones for the Safari browser.

If you go under color matching in the print dialog you check color sync and you can pick your profile-- at least with my P600. Hit the double headed arrow by scaling and artboards to find color matching.
