Affinity V2 Logos & Variants by StudioJason
Brian_J replied to StudioJason's topic in Share your work
Thanks for sharing. Companies usually have restrictions about how their logo may be used, and typically don’t allow their logo to be altered, so it may not be appropriate to provide the logos “for commercial use.”- 2 replies

@Ammar I thought of your post as I was working just now. Are you using Designer v1 or v2? In Affinity v2 apps for Windows, there is a new collapse option — Collapse All Parents — which allows everything to be collapsed without having to select multiple layers. Not sure if you're using v1... I can't imagine why that option would be missing in v2 for Mac. -
Something I do sometimes to align Artistic Text in Designer — since Designer lacks the Baseline Grid feature — is to create a Grid in Advance Mode, set the First Axis (vertical) to the width of the canvas (so there is no visible vertical grid) and the Second Axis (horizontal) to my baseline grid. Although there is no visual indicator of the text baseline, the baseline does snap to the grid. I don't know if this is a useful approach in a production environment, but it is an option.

I agree. I was planning on posting similar thoughts after the volume of posts due to the v2 launch subsided. I initially chalked up my difficulties with the v2 UI to my aging eyes, which I’m sure is a contributing factor, but it dawned on me, as well, that I don’t have trouble with any other app that I use. I hope Serif will take another look at the UI and consider making improvements… especially to the contrast.

I don't like the new UI design
Brian_J replied to Zaxonov's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
I'm a Windows user and after watching some of the Serif videos (recorded on a Mac) about v2 features, I was thinking the contrast on Mac looked better than on Windows. One issue I'm having is, when dragging a layer to a different location in the Layers Panel, it's difficult for me to see where I'm moving the layer to (mask, child, or above/below another layer). There's not enough contrast between the semi-transparent blue that covers the layer being moved and the blue vertical/horizontal lines that indicate where the layer is being moved to. -

Have you double checked the stroke color you have select? Maybe it’s white, or the same color as whatever you’re drawing on top of? -

Very nice! I like how you creating the decal on the inner back panel, and nice shadows. Great job! -
It sure would be nice if we could all stick to discussion about the Affinity products and our own perspectives in these forums. Alternate points of view can be expressed without criticizing someone else’s opinion, or them personally. The Affinity forums have felt more like a social media site recently, with all the negativity and vitriol being directed at individuals.

@awakenedbyowls Serif advised they will support v1 for security updates and issues due to changes in the OS. I don’t remember exactly how they worded it or where I read it… you may want to check the Affinity FAQ page to see if it’s stated there.

You can select the top layer, then scroll to the bottom off the layers panel and use whatever key + mouse click is required on a Mac to select everything from the first selection to the last, and collapse them all at once. Not exactly what you want, but it’s quicker than selecting and closing all the layers individually. -

Ah, I misunderstood your question. I’m not in front of my computer, so don’t know how the command is worded, but the layers/folders have to be selected. I don’t think there’s a way to collapse all layers without selecting them first. -

On Windows, ‘Collapse all’ is in the right-click context menu. Does control-click bring up that menu on a Mac?
