Anywhere angle control on Designer 2?
Brian_J replied to Sibaek Lee's topic in Affinity on iPad Questions
@StudioJason Thanks for the correction. -
I haven't tested the TTF fonts from https://github.com/JulietaUla/Montserrat. I'll do that another day unless someone beats me to it. I have Montserrat v8.000 (from fonts.google.com), and it looks like the most recent version on GitHub is 7.200. I'm wondering if the issue is TTF vs OTF or the font version.

Sneaky Sales Tactics!
Brian_J replied to Smpl's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
Welcome (back) to the jungle. π In the 18 months I've been in these forums, I haven't experienced anything like what's going on now with how some members are communicating. Hopefully civility will triumph after the craziness of the V2 launch subsides. -

Cool, I'll cross my fingers for you. π€ There was some chatter in these forums about Serif offering some kind of deal to people who just bought V1, but I don't know how accurate the info was. Welcome to the community, by the way! The forums are crazy right now because of the V2 launch, but I think you'll find there are a lot of knowledgeable, helpful people here who can help if you have questions. -

@William Chang Yeah, Serif made some significant mistakes with this V2 launch. What a mess. Bummer about your purchase failing. Hope you're able to get it worked out soon. But regardless, I would still ask Serif to work out a deal for you since you purchased V1 such a short time ago β there's no guarantee how they will respond, but I think it's a perfectly reasonable request. You won't get anything unless you ask for it, and it doesn't matter if your V2 purchase has gone through already or not. -

@William Chang Since your V1 purchase was so recent, I would recommend contacting Serif to ask them what they can do for you about cost. The email listed on the Serif Support page is: affinityorders@serif.com. Support is really backlogged, so it may take some time for them to respond, but I think it would be worth your time to get in touch with them. -
I have the same issue with Montserrat on a Windows 10 computer. I have the most recent, static version of Montserrat from fonts.google.com. No character settings were changed. I haven't had this issue with other Google Fonts I use, like Open Sans and Roboto. Very odd. Maybe a difference in how Mac and Windows handle fonts that are designed however Montserrat is? Here's a screenshot and the AD file. Stroke Montserrat Font.afdesign

If the outline is purple, it sounds like you have Show Snapping Candidates enabled in the Snapping settings. If that's the case, disable Show Snapping Candidates and the purple outlines will be removed, and the selected object will have a blue outline.

@fotomak and @hm933 I agree. It often takes time to adjust to, and even appreciate, UI changes β I understand that, and Iβm getting used to some of the changes β but there are a number of things that make V2 difficult for me to work with. Some UI elements are too small, contrast is poor, etc. The change to the Lock Aspect Ratio icon really surprised me β I could easily recognize it in V1β¦ now I have to stare at it to determine if aspect ratio is locked or not.

unwanted default font
Brian_J replied to fabtho's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
@fabtho To change the Text Styles permanently for all future documents, do this: In the Text Styles panel hamburger menu, enable Show Heirarchical (so there is a check mark by it). This should ensure the Base text style appears at the top of the list. Edit the Base text style that appears at the top of the list, change the font and any other settings to whatever you want. When you're done editing the style, click the OK button in the Edit Text Style dialogue to save changes. Again, in the Text Styles panel hamburger menu, Save Styles as Default.- 5 replies

unwanted default font
Brian_J replied to fabtho's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
To save defaults for all future documents, I believe Defaults must Synchronize first, then save Defaults. Also note that the defaults for the Artistic Text Tool and Frame Text Tool are separate... defaults need to be synchronized for each of the tools, then save defaults. To set the defaults for all future documents: Select an object with the attributes you wish to save as default settings (e.g., Artistic Text, Text Frame, or vector shape). In the menu: Edit > Defaults > Synchronize from Selection. Synchronized defaults override saved defaults for the current document only. In the menu: Edit > Defaults > Save. Nothing in the document needs to be selected β all the defaults used in the current document become the global defaults for all future documents.- 5 replies

Unwanted Zoom Flicker when switching between image tabs
Brian_J replied to Madpeaz's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
@Madpeaz Thanks for bringing up this issue. I assumed the behavior was inherent to the apps, so never considered mentioning it as a bug. Iβm happy to know the issue will be fixed! -
I think it comes down to personal preference. I prefer to import text that is as clean as possible, so I would opt for cleaning things up in Word. I'm not aware of what causes Word to create multiple List Paragraph styles, I've never seen that β you obviously want to make sure you don't screw up the formatting in Word. I would think that applying the original List Paragraph style to all the lists in your document (via Select all instances) would clean things up properly, but I'm not certain. It would be a good idea to save a copy as a backup before trying to clean up the Word styles, just in case.

Unwanted Zoom Flicker when switching between image tabs

I have an old PC with an AMD Radeon R9 graphics card. I donβt know if the age/performance of my graphics card could be the source of the issue.
