  1. The leaves may have been created with heart shapes.

You could create one leaf, duplicate it, and rotate the duplicate using the bottom tip as the origin point. Then nudge the leaves inward towards each other to make them overlap however much you want.

I wonder why anyone would want anonymous group icons, making navigation difficult.

Is there some significant performance penalty with Group Thumbnails?

I think it’s a matter of personal preference rather than performance considerations. I usually prefer folder icons, and rely on group names to quickly identify contents. I imagine the type of graphic/artwork and how complex it is affect whether thumbnails or folder icons are more helpful.

V2 apps do not need a product key for installation. They are now activated online using your Affinity Store account details. You can find out more here.

That hyperlink returns ‘Page not found’ for me. Not sure if it’s an issue on my end… but I think the extra characters at the end of the URL are likely invalid.

If the link doesn’t work for you, this is the intended page:

  4. I don't know if the descriptions on the Affinity help page for Above (DPI), Use document resolution, and Use DPI will be helpful to you:
    https://affinity.help/publisher2/en-US.lproj/pages/Publishing/exportSettings.html

I don't understand the need or benefit of all the DPI settings, myself, so my comment is more of a bump to this post... I'm hoping someone can shed light on this topic.

When you explicitly create a mask layer, it's like any other layer, you can delete it.  But when you create a mask just by painting black and white on an adjustment layer, you get a "mask" that isn't a "mask layer" and there's apparently no way to get rid of it.

Ah, I get it. I've never painted a mask directly onto an adjustment layer... didn't realize that was possible. Applying a mask layer to an adjustment layer does provide more freedom to make changes.

One small problem, I had 2 options, supply product code or run as trial. I downloaded Affinity way back when it was first  in development stage, and have been getting updates eversince. I am not aware I ever got a product code. Can I get around this.

The Affinity Help page, License Activation Explained section, provides instructions that should help you out:

I don't understand where TOC has got this bold setting from in the first place.

I've found that if the Base text style Font Traits is [No change], the TOC often goes haywire and becomes bold. I don't know if the issue is specific to particular fonts or not. I don't have the font used in your file, so can't replicate the issue, but I'm wondering if setting the Base text style font trait would correct the bold issue.

I want to set TOC 1: Article author - large to italic.

I wish I had something of value to add here... unfortunately not. I'm often frustrated by this in regular non-TOC text styles.

    Sorry, but not true.

Here, for example, you can see the Document Baseline Grid setting (View > Baseline Grid...) is off, but I have set a Baseline Grid specific to a Text Frame, using the Text Frame panel:

Yes, I understand a baseline grid can be set in a text frame. But if the text frame with 'Use Baseline Grid' enabled is moved vertically, the text doesn't display the behavior the OP described, because the baseline moves with the text frame.

An additional quirk is that when I move the frame text box up and down to position it, these spacings seem to arbitrarily increase or decrease, usually then the edge meets the frame above.

That's why I figured the Text Frame baseline grid options may not play a role in the issue. But, could be I'm not understanding the issue completely.

  9. @John Rostron Am I correct in assuming that you do not want to use the baseline grid anywhere in the document?

If you have disabled the baseline grid in View > Baseline Grid, I don't believe the baseline grid options in other areas could be causing the "jumpy text" issue. For example, enabling the baseline grid in the Text Frame panel won't make the text jump around when the text frame is moved, because the baseline is anchored to the text frame.

If you could upload a Publisher file with a text frame exhibiting the behavior, someone in here should be able to figure out what's going on.
