Hey everyone! I'm trying to figure out how to take the text that I have on my image, and instead, cut those words out from the image to expose the background. I'm making a logo with a transparent background, and I want the text to expose the color of whatever the backdrop is at the time. I'm new to this, and so I would greatly appreciate your assistance. You can use the Data Merge function to perform a one-time import of data from a CSV, JSON, or XLSX file. Help: https://affinity.help/publisher/English.lproj/pages/Advanced/dataMerge.html
 

It can import and place them (as .pdf, .jpg, .png and quite few others). And you can create them manually. But it can't create graphs or pie charts from raw data in the way that spreadsheet programs like Numbers and Excel can.

In Photo, with the image/website layer selected click the Live Filters button on the bottom of the layers panel and select Perspective.... The filter should be nested to the image layer in the Layers panel (if not, drag it over the image layer's thumbnail until a blue vertical line appears on the right of the image thumbnail then release the mouse button at that point). Drag the perspective bounding box handles on canvas to adjust the distortion as you see fit.
You can switch the document between apps going to menu File > Edit in Photo... (if you are working in Designer) and vice versa to add the live filter. After added and switched back to Designer you can adjust it in Designer by double-clicking the Perspective thumbnail in the Layers panel and adjusting it on canvas as you did in Affinity Photo.

Affinity apps do not support any kind of animation.

Scratch that, I have discovered that the auto-update thingy is not in the online account, but the app account area!

I purchased this a few weeks ago and I'm liking it a lot. A few issues here and there, but it's quite the program for such little upfront cost. Nice!

Anyway, so I asked permission from Diagrams.net, and they said that their assets are available under creative commons licensure. So I'm going to convert their libraries little by little if this garners some interest. 
I'm also interested in consolidating the available assets on this forum (That are free/ fair use) if that interests anyone. My first week of using this software, I did a lot of scouring to get a decent library of brushes(vector/raster) and assets. Not the best quality of life honestly, and I'd love to compile a collection of them for easy installation.
Okay so I've converted their infographic template library (absolutely gorgeous) to *.afassets. They are attached, along with a screenshot that doesn't do them justice. Definitely give Diagrams.net a look, as the integration with Designer is quite convenient from my experience. Free/Foss software also. 

I'd like feedback if there are any issues. It is organized into big assets and small assets. The largeAssets is the bread and butter. Grab that one over the small one. This is version 1.0, and I plan to categorize them but... I honestly couldn't figure out how to make categories. Anyway, check them out if you're interested!

I have found theta+ app in the meantime, but would prefer something more desktop, more powerful and I am loving Serif's capabilities thus far 

I'd love to see the books available as digital. This would allow for easy updates as features are changed/added, lower pricing, and near instant delivery.

You also get told that the complementary creative content is on sale. 26 of the 33 things we sell on the Affinity Store, so 78% of the store content is not software.

Since I own all the apps, what I do when I get emails advertising a sale, is to let artistically inclined friends or family know about it.  If I were a larger business I might also want to know about a sale in case I were thinking adding more workstations.

I would like to say thank you, despite some of the negative comments from those who paid years ago, I really value the discount given, I'll sign up as soon as I can resolve my internet purchase issues with my bank.
During this whole pandemic I had my upcoming contract cancelled, and as I was moving countries at the time, have not had a decent income in more than a year. This scenario has been a mixed blessing in that it has allowed me to spread my wings into my new entrepreneurial world, and my new ventures can potentially help me keep things afloat here in Spain, I have no support network other than my own initiative as am am ineligible in both my old and new country, and otherwise previously stood on my own two feet.
I suspect that those griping that they paid full price years ago are getting at least some help from their governments, and not required to pay monthly taxes to be self employed and live on savings (mostly now depleted). 
I have discovered your earlier lockdown videos on youtube, and have been working through those, what a brilliant idea!

Hi All,
When much of the world went into lockdown last year we put a few things in place to try to offer some support to the creative community. In the big scheme of things they were fairly small gestures I guess, but we were quite overwhelmed by the positive feedback we received about it.
In particular the 90-day trial of all our apps provided a big help for people who may have lost access to their normal tools through their work or university, and offering a deep 50% discount on our apps was also greatly appreciated.
We reverted back to our normal trial length and pricing as those initial restrictions eased and the situation felt like it was improving. However here in the UK we are back in full national lockdown and in many countries restrictions are tight and livelihoods continue being severely affected as we deal with the second wave of this virus. For that reason, we have decided to re-introduce both our 90-day trial and 50% discount on all our apps and digital content (unfortunately the relatively small margins we have on workbooks means we cannot offer the discount on those). We have also reset the 90-day trial so anyone who took advantage of it before can do so again.
The thoughts of all of us at Serif remain with everyone affected by this crisis and we wish you all the best.

Affinity can not read ai files.
Affinity reads PDF data of hybrid ai files, not native ai data.
So the swatch won't be available when you open it in Affinity.
