Tony Ennis reacted to Wosven in One page per page!
Hi @Tony Ennis
Can you provide screenshots or a sample PDF to help understand the problem?

Are you exporting your Pages or you're Spreads? Spreads will contain two pages but they will be two pages, you may need to change what your PDF viewer shows as well.

👹
Seems the evil "spread by default" option strikes again...

Is there a way to export a multi-page document (such as a booklet) as a single-page PDF? Printers/Prepress often require single-page PDF

Just found the solution:
File / Export.../ Area (drop down menu)
Choose: 'All Pages'
voila....
Trust this is helpful. ~db

That is a Character Text Style, which would override selected aspects of any Paragraph Text Style you might have applied to the selected text.

All bets are off.
I would just go with copy paste each recipe and format it with manually placed and sized text frames. Check out the Guides manager and use it to set up some layout guides for making your life a little easier. Forget about a Master Page Text Frame for the recipes.

I would want to know if the text is in a file or if you are typing them into Publisher.
Best practice for me if I was doing this would be to have the recipes in text files (or even just one big text file with all the recipes) and then go and place each recipe into the Master Page Text Frame on the individual pages with appropriate Paragraph Styles, Recipe Name, Ingredients and Instructions. In the Paragraph Styles I would have all the formatting for spacing between the various elements.
You may actually need to have a set of Master pages for Recipes and Illustrations and Discussions etc.
A Recipe book is actually quite a difficult job.

The best would be if you would record a screencast of what you're trying to acomplish.

Phrase of the day "Just go plop" lol!
How would deleting a text frame help manage the content on a page and what do you mean by "over text framed"?
That said, you can either rasterise or convert the text to curves. Rasterise will probably degrade the text quality, and convert to curves will create a group of layers with each letter being a layer, both will prevent any further editing of text.

Even text needs some kind of container, so there is no way to place them without one. If you "overframed" your document, grouping elements where possible would help to clean the structure of layers a bit.

Link the text frames, then delete all but one.

Do you already use the latest v1.9.2 Win version of Publisher?
You have to analyze what slows down and results to that behavior you initially described. Also make for sureness some backup copies of your document and all the needed resources (you can tryout that packaging feature additionally, though I wouldn't rely only on that here).
If you find out that the whole 300 pages in just one document might be the overkill for the app, than try out additionally if possibly merging documents (and thus a structuring into seperate TOC, chapters, index etc.) helps here or not.

"These aren't the page numbers you're looking for" *waves hand*

Plates are a thing from the bindery stage of book publishing.
I do like the second suggestion. Have the new section start on whichever page, left or right, that I right-click on. As it is set up now I get the left page all the time regardless of which page is highlighted.

You have indicated that there is a door there somewhere. All I need is someone to show me where it is!
Thankyou

You are going to have to use sections and restart the numbering. So every six pages you insert a plate and it's backside then start a new section. Your plate and its backside are going to be page 7 and 8 then you start the next section with page number at 7. Lot of work.

Then I can't help much, sorry.
On Mac, you can deactivite fonts you rarely use and activate them only when needed. That can be done either via the built-in Font Book app, or with a 3rd party font manager.

Computer? Operating system? CPU? Graphic card? Memory? How many fonts installed, activated and used in document? How many images placed?
So many variables…
