Requirements: None
As this is a beta release, it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that you may be adversely affected by the application failing. In addition it is worth noting that files created in Affinity Designer 1.5 cannot be opened in Affinity Photo 1.4, which means that although files created with the Windows beta can be opened in the Mac AppStore version of Designer (currently on 1.5.1) they cannot be opened in the latest Mac App Store versions Affinity Photo, instead you will need the latest macOS 1.5 beta.

We aim for consistency with the macOS version, but also try to conform to normal Windows user experiences where it makes sense.

Got this version downloaded, but it is practically useless. Text tool simply refuses to work. I've been using this for many betas and been a few issues with color/opacity on Text, but never simply not working like it is now.
Hi, can you provide a video of what you're seeing? I can type text, change opacity, change fill colour, etc.

Bug: On a laptop, starting Affinity switches the brightness of the screen to 100%.
Hi, I use Designer on my laptop every day and have never noticed it switching my brightness settings (we don't have anything in the code which does this). Perhaps you have a power setting that does this?

Possible problem in ICC Profile of my monitor (SyncMaster 2343BW): Samsung - Natural Color Pro 1.0 ICM (attached)
I changed it to "sRGB IEC61966-2.1" in system Color Management dialog - now no problem with colors.
P.S. problem was even if just create new document.
Hi, thanks for attaching the profile. We've had a look at it, and it indeed appears to be a broken profile. I have no idea why Samsung ship a broken profile, clearly they've never tested it on anything that actually does colour profiling...

The Ctrl key on a Mac is an extra key for which we don't have a counterpart on our Windows keyboards.
We use Right-Click for the fourth modifier on Windows, which probably wouldn't work well in this scenario! Like you say, we don't have another key available to us, unfortunately.

I appreciate this doesn't help your situation, but the thumbnail appears fine for me. There is a command to register the thumbnail provider on the command line, I'll hunt it out and get you to try it.

Xara probably puts something on the clipboard which we're not handling properly. If you go to Edit > Paste Special it will show the formats that are on the clipboard, so we can try to support them. The same with Freehand's clipboard formats.

Careful! Unlike the usual, this version is quite unstable. For the first time I'm having crashes! So far only in tools that require clicking and dragging (applying transparency, adjusting nodes, dragging images...)
Do you have a document that you can provide which would help to reproduce these problems? As I can't reproduce anything here.

I installed the latest version, but now the symbols (I don't know the special term) at the left side have disappeared (see attached file). How can I turn these on?

Try going to the View > Show Tools menu item. Do you remember turning the tools off?

Can you delete that file, then try to get the application to crash again? Before re-launching the application after the crash, can you check that directory, and if there is a crash report in there, can you attach it to this thread?
