v1.9.2 Cannot even open a jpeg file
Mark Ingram replied to Education for Life's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
If you uninstall and reinstall your graphics drivers you should find that you no longer experience the problem (with hardware acceleration enabled). -
Affinity Photo for Linux

This was mainly referring to some Intel driver installations that hadn't properly cleared old dlls from the system during a driver upgrade. If you're experiencing a crash with NVIDIA, that is something different. Do you have Capture One installed?

AMD Radeon RX Hardware Acceleration

No sorry, we're waiting on AMD for this. When there is more information to share, I will update the thread. -
1.9.1 didn't fix the 1.9 splash screen crash
Mark Ingram replied to Throne777's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
The crash fix is related to working around a mis-match in driver components that seem prevalent with older Intel graphics drivers. Your particular crash didn't seem related to that. You can install the latest beta alongside your 1.8.5 retail build to see if that works. If the beta works, it will be safe to upgrade your retail install. -
90-day trial version won't open image files
Mark Ingram replied to Sittatunga's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
Chances are, you could uninstall / reinstall the latest graphics drivers then re-enable the hardware acceleration and it would work well for you. -
I realise this must be frustrating, but with no way of seeing or reproducing a potential bug here, there really is nothing we can do about it. I hope you understand. Try @PhatMonkey's suggestion and see if that produces anything that shows the issue.

Thanks for the crash dumps, I've taken a look and it's crashing inside your Intel graphics driver (igdrclneo64.dll). I suggest an uninstall and reinstall of the latest available drivers to see if that fixes it.

Application hangs when opening psd file
Mark Ingram replied to LodewijkS's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
Firstly, try disabling hardware acceleration in Preferences. If that works, you may need to try updating your drivers before re-enabling the option. We've heard a few customers report document loading hangs their machines, and updating drivers has fixed it. -
Apps won't launch on Win10 after Upgrade to 1.9
Mark Ingram replied to Walter Raczynski's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
Thanks very much for trying this out @simono, I really appreciate your help here. I use DDU a lot, when changing graphics cards from different manufacturers when I'm testing things, so I do rely on it, but I also know it can be quite scary for the "average" user to try and use, so I don't tend to recommend it publicly. It seems like an old driver installer / uninstaller / upgrader may not have been doing a good enough job of tidying up old files. I'm glad the new system is up and running well too! We've talked internally about allowing the option to pick and choose GPUs for hardware acceleration. I've got nothing more to share at the minute though.- 271 replies

Apps won't launch on Win10 after Upgrade to 1.9
Mark Ingram replied to Walter Raczynski's topic in V1 Bugs found on Windows
@simono, just heard back from Intel. They've identified the cause of the OpenCL crash. They've suggested it looks like you have a corrupt driver installation, and you have a mix of versions still available on your system. Your latest drivers were x.x.x.9168 but some of the components were from x.x.x.4973 (really really old!). They've suggested trying DDU - https://www.wagnardsoft.com/ to ensure that the system is completely wiped clean of GPU drivers, and then trying again. I realise you've got a new laptop now, but I'd be interested to know whether using DDU and reinstalling the latest does actually fix the problem (if you have time to test it out). Thanks!- 271 replies

Have you got any crash reports in %APPDATA%\Affinity\Photo\1.0\CrashReports\reports ?
-
Just a reminder, it would be great to see a video of the delay in action, as I can't investigate anything here without knowing what I'm looking for, and I can't report the issue to NVIDIA either for the same reason.

It's failing to use the GPU for rendering, so we're falling back to WARP, which isn't great, but will work (it's a software renderer, so will be slower). I don't know why it's failing. Just to double check, have you restarted your machine since installing the drivers? Can you upload your log file, %APPDATA%\Affinity\Photo\1.0\Log.txt

To confirm, BSOD is caused by drivers only. Applications make use of the drivers, which is why it appears some "applications cause BSOD", but in reality, it can only be the driver. You need to find out which driver is causing it (probably GPU), and update / change it.
