  1. Thanks for the reply. I have run the Font manager on the document and it isn't finding any problems. I have used quite a lot of custom fonts in the book and did wonder if one of them had caused a problem, but it is saying they are all ok.
  2. I have been having trouble loading a 203 page book interior to Kindle Direct Publishing that I have made in Affinity Publisher. It contains quite a lot of graphics from different sources and some text. There are some pages with bleed and I have allowed for this in the dimensions of the pages. I exported it to pdf as a pdf/X-1a:2003 according to their suggestion. I have asked on the KDP forum and was told that it needed to be flattened, but I don't know how to do this in Publisher/Designer. I read somewhere on here that the pdf/X-1a format automatically flattens the document. Is that correct? Some of the graphics were vector formatted but I have changed these to jpegs just in case that was the problem, but it doesn't seem to have helped. If anything, its worse because now the error message is just 'Failed manuscript upload' whereas before it uploaded it but failed when I tried to Preview it. What other things could be preventing it from uploading successfully? I am new to this and don't know where to start in resolving the problem. I have successfully uploaded three other books with no problem but they were much simpler in content. The cover has uploaded with no issues. Thanks for any help.
  3. Thanks, found it. Slightly frustrating that solutions on YT etc have been superceded.
  4. I have been trying to check the page size of my document and finding this bizarrely difficult. When I go into page setup, I don't see the option for dimensions, all I see is Layout, Colour and Bleed. Please see attached screenshot. Have I accidentally switched off this option and if so how do I restore it? My dog put her head on my keyboard the other day and mucked up all sorts of settings so that might be what happened. I am having difficulty getting KDP to accept this file so need to be sure I have got the dimensions right. Thanks
  5. I have converted the Apub file to a pdf and I think that's where the problem lies. I solved the issue I had yesterday by starting a new document and transferring the pages individually so they were all in line, and that solved the issue. However I have tried to convert another document to pdf today which has two pages side by side, and when I opened the pdf file, the middle division was gone again. I was under the impression that whether you chose to have all your pages in line, or two side by side was simply a matter of preference and that it would not impact on the final result but obviously there is more to it than that. Looks like I will have to reformat it by hand again.
  6. Thanks for the suggestion however I don't think that's the problem. Now that I look at the document I see that there is no division down the middle of the two pages. It definitely was there before, but I'm not sure at what point of the process it was changed. I may have hit some button I shouldn't have, but short of moving each of 150 pages into a new document I don't know how to change it back.
  7. I set up my document so that two pages show side by side in the Pages panel but when I uploaded it to Amazon KDP platform, the previewer is showing the two pages crammed into one page. This is not what I want. I don't know what I have done to it to make it do that, can anyone suggest what I need to do to change the settings so that only one page appears on one page? Thanks
  8. Thanks for the reply. I do have Affinity Publisher but only bought it a couple of days ago so haven't even looked at it yet, as I am still trying to get to grips with the Designer. I think I will stick to the font provided and leave it at that for now, and make my own interiors from scratch in future. It does seem like a missed opportunity to include no facility for reorgainising or adding to a document without having to put in a lot of extra work. I can move the document over and see if I can make sense of it there. Thanks
  9. These are probably very simple questions but I can't find answers in either the forum or the Help facility in AD. I bought in a 100 page book interior from Creative Fabrica and would like to add in some artboards and change the font throughout, but can't work out how to do it. I have made the new artboards but when I try to place them where I want them, the other pages don't move aside. Do they have to be moved manually to make room for the new pages? Or is there some way of achieving this quickly? I have watched your video tutorial but it doesn't explain how to do this. Also, how do I change the font throughout? Many thanks
  10. Thanks for the reply. That's hilarious. After I posted I realised that I had changed the file attributes, thinking I had changed it to inches but it looks like it didn't stick and has come out as millimetres (pixels?) and I hadn't noticed. I am just a beginner at vector art but have learned a lot even since posting this question.
  11. I am new to Affinity Designer and vector drawing in general. I have an issue with text sizing as my interface is showing as much bigger than it should be. The attached screen cap shows the setting at minimum of 5pt. The document header shows Untitled [Modified](2160.2%) but I don't know why as I just created it and made no changes to the settings. Please advise, many thanks.
