How do I shrink the bounds of the layer to the bits I haven't deleted? Not so bad in the below example, but super annoying having to zoom right out to find the handles when I've deleted all but a small area of a layer.

well I think it's a crap crop poo...I mean too. Crap is definitely not a terrible word either. Even children say it. To be fair I think being reprimanded for it's use between adults is a little bit odd to say the least. In my opinion the lack of intuitiveness of the program was worthy of much stronger language.

I alt click the 'pixel mask layer' then it shows it as black and white only (if that's what you mean).

stick a black and white adjustment on the 'mask'

Wouldn't it make more sense for rasterize layer to do this? It's a given that it's going to be grayscale.......or are you telling me we have pixels layers, mask layers, and grayscale layers?

I mean, in this video I have absolutely no idea what's happening. The red layer is showing as gray in the layers panel (second from the bottom). The masks above that layer seem to mask the red layer, even though they're above it.....can anyone explain this, or is it just time to boycott the software and put it down to a not so expensive lesson to never buy cheap? 2021-10-26 14-54-31.mp4

So basically the answer is, you cant paste into a mask. I'm guessing if you want to combine masks you cant, and you have to have an endless number of masks instead. How do I convert a mask to pixels? I though perhaps as rasterize to mask turned pixels data to mask data, then rasterize would turn it back to pixel data........nope. And what's the logic behind needing mask data and pixel data....couldn't pixel data suffice for both?

Every time I want to do something straightforward, it doesn't work as expected, and I have to search the internet to find a solution. I've been unable to quickly find a solution to Affinity's latest bizarre refusal to work logically. Here's what I'm trying to do. copy one layer into a mask layer. I though it would just be a case of click the layer to copy, select all, copy (tried both ctrl c and copy flattened), then right click on the mask layer and choose 'edit mask', then paste..........Nope, doesn't like it...it's completely nonsensical. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Affinity, if you're listening, for the love of all that is holy, PLEASE make your software intuitive.

view/show guides has no effect on column and row guides. Once a guide has been added it can't be hidden from view. Not even if clicking on remove all guides in the guide manager...

I've raised a feature request, but I think it's probably pointless as there were already 4 pages full of people asking for it. It's not that big of a deal though, I was just surprised that such a simple to implement feature in terms of coding, has been ignored for so long. There definitely needs to be some sort of poll for the developers to glance at a couple of times a week.

Hi, could you add crop to selection please (non destructive). Under the hood it could just use the crop tool and align it's corners to the selection boundary.

Also, is there a Python API for plugin developers? Crop to selection would be super easy to create if so, it's just activate and align crop corners to selection corners and apply.

holy cow, a feature request this old and with this much activity, and it's still not in the software. Is this common for Affinity? I think this could be solved by adding crop to selection in the document window. It doesn't need to be destructive, it could use the crop tool under the hood.

I think they should just get rid of Text frame, and add a wordwrap option for artistic + hold a key whilst resizing to resize just the text area, or don't hold the key while resizing to rescale it all.

That resizes the text rather than reszing the text area only. I want to resize the text area but keep the text visually the same font size but with shorter lines to fit inside the new text area width. This is what happens with the resize blue dots: Original: resized with the blue dots(text is much smaller): what I want (after resizing the blue box, the text is the same visual font size, but the lines are shorter to fit the new text area thanks to it wordrapping within the designated area:
