  1. Here it is. I just used Shift+Right Arrow to select the index mark and then I Cut and Pasted it back to the same location. Screen Recording 2024-01-04 at 11.40.22 AM.mov
  2. If the image isn't showing up in the TOC then you might have accidentally hidden the image layer instead of the text frame layer. Or you might have turned off "Include inline pins" in the TOC panel. Here's a messy example. The images are embedded to make it easier to share but it's a tiny doc. test.afpub
  3. Here's a very easy way to make a TOC of images. I recommend using linked images instead of embedded to keep your file size low. For each of the 80 images: Copy the image to the clipboard Draw a text frame to accompany the image - make it larger than the image, at least temporarily Choose Heading 1 (or whatever heading style you want) Paste the copied image into the frame and scale it to the size you want it to appear in the TOC - if you don't scale it, the TOC will include it at full size Optional: Enter text to the left or right of the image Hide this text frame with Layer > Hide or by clicking the layer visibility toggle in the Layers panel Insert the TOC If there's more than one image on a page of the book then of course you need only draw one frame per page. I'm going to add this idea to my manual, it's kind of cool that you can do this.
  4. But if you customize Tools again it's fine, right? I can't find any problems with that at least.
  5. EB Garamond is a good and free test font for this: https://fonts.google.com/specimen/EB+Garamond Cheers
  6. Open beta 2112 (any app) for macOS - the app will be at the default window size and position (a bit smaller than my screen and centered) Drag the window to the upper-left corner and then drag the bottom-right corner to fit the window to the screen Quit and open again - the window size will revert to the default size and position It's remembering the studio/panel setup, just not the window state. I tried clearing user data but that didn't help.
  7. Serif has publicly stated that they're working on a plugin API for a future version of Affinity. Here's a recent status update.
  8. Also, if the 2000 pages are basically all one long story (series of linked frames), breaking the story up into separate stories will improve performance. Refer to the Books chapter of my Publisher manual for the pros and cons of each type of document structure. Cheers
  9. Yes, there is a snap to grid feature. You can find the information here: https://affinity.help/publisher2/English.lproj/index.html?page=pages/DesignAids/snapping.html?title=Snapping You can snap a text object to the grid but not a sentence. Moving a sentence can only be done within a text frame or text object.
  10. I'm glad you got it working. I've never experienced this bug myself so I can't provide first-hand advice, but from what I've seen in this forum, it seems to happen mainly with linked documents (afpub, afdesign, afphoto, pdf, and psd). I don't think I've seen reports of it with SVG but I could be wrong. Simple files like TIFF, PNG, and JPG all seem to be fine. I don't know for sure whether changing them to embedded will work or if you need to delete them first so try both ways. Good luck.
  11. Hi, I can open your document without issues and I don't think this is related to the index feature. I'm on macOS so that could be the reason why but I wonder if it's the linked document. Could you please do this test with the document you uploaded? Rename the linked resource (the old paper .afphoto file) Open the document and click No in the Missing Resources alert Does the document open correctly now, albeit with the missing old paper image? If so, the issue is a known bug with linked documents. Once you have the document open you can delete and replace the linked resource and it should open correctly from then on. If that doesn't fix it, change it from linked to embedded or avoid it entirely by changing it from .afphoto to a simpler format such as .tiff or .jpeg. Good luck
  12. It may very well be only on Sonoma, I don't know, but note that it is intermittent and generally doesn't happen immediately after creating or opening a document. I can't find a thread reporting this issue so perhaps Serif isn't aware of this one yet. I thought I'd reported it long ago but perhaps I was still trying to find a pattern.
  13. Great tips! These borders are neatlines - I love them.
  14. This is probably a Windows-specific issue because the search field is active on macOS when the dialog opens.
  15. @Sushifiend I haven't heard anybody ask for support for IFF/ILBM for decades! While it was heavily used for multimedia, it wasn't a popular file format for users of Amiga DTP apps even at the peak of the Amiga market. I suggest batch converting the images. While this could be done with more modern tools as Walt suggested, it could also be done with old Amiga apps, too.
  16. @Dan C Yes, it's a duplicate. Sorry I forgot all about that earlier report. At that time I didn't test it out fully and realize that it was all character attributes.
  17. I believe this is a known bug with 2.3 - Publisher doesn't consistently display the master page names when hovering over thumbnails of document pages in the Pages panel, at least on macOS. This came up during the 2.3 beta but I can't find a thread on it right now.
  18. It didn't work because those are strokes and not shapes so you'll need to convert them to shapes first. Select them and choose Layer > Expand Stroke to convert them to shapes and then you'll be able to cut off pieces to delete with the Knife tool. Cheers
  19. Hi Garry, use Designer or the Designer person and choose the Knife tool. Then draw where you want to cut and delete the cut portion of the shape. Cheers
  20. Euroscale is not the same and Affinity doesn't include these profiles, you'd have to install them. The list you have is the same I have on macOS with Adobe software also installed (some of these profiles are from our Adobe installations). If you want those two ISO profiles, you can download them from here: http://www.eci.org/doku.php?id=en:downloads It's in the section named "ICC profiles from ECI (old versions)" and the direct download link is: http://www.eci.org/lib/exe/fetch.php?media=downloads:icc_profiles_from_eci:eci_offset_2009.zip To install these files on macOS: Copy the .icc file(s) to /users/<username>/Library/ColorSync/Profiles. The default colour profiles are stored in a similar folder for all users of your computer so this folder will be empty if you haven’t previously installed a colour profile. Restart Publisher. To install these files on Windows: Open Colour Management via the Control Panel or by searching for it in the Settings app. Select the All Profiles tab. Click Add, select the .icc file, and click Add. Restart Publisher.
  21. Adding 3 more sizes would push the top of the Press Ready header below the 'fold' which would decrease discoverability unless the dialog was made even taller. And if 3 more sizes are to be added, they'd need to add ~8 American paper sizes because there are currently 8 metric sizes and 3 American sizes. It's so easy to add our own presets for whatever sizes we want. And to delete all the sizes that we have no use for.
  22. I agree with you but I think you're mixing up topics and references. A topic can have multiple references. There are two "Add" type dialogs: Add Index Topic: this creates a topic without adding any references (markers). It includes Sort By. Insert Topic Reference: this creates a reference to a topic and if the topic doesn't exist it creates it. It doesn't include Sort By. I believe Serif omitted Sort By because if you've previously created the topic then you can't create a second reference to it with a difference Sort By value. I think Serif could do this though. They could either disable Sort By if you enter the name of an existing topic, or they could set Sort By to match the existing topic's value, and if you change it in this dialog then it could be changed for the topic. I think this is a good feature request. There is only one "Edit" type dialog: Edit Index Topic: this is equivalent to Add Index Topic. There is no "Edit Reference" dialog and this is missing. There's no way to edit an index reference so you can't change the Style Override value which is a reference-level attribute. The only workaround is to delete the reference and add it back with a different Style Override value, which isn't great. This has been requested before and it also a good feature request. I've documented all of these index features in the free Publisher manual I've shared in this forum. The link is in my signature. Cheers
  23. Hi and welcome to the forums. Yes, you can do this with a global list. You'll find the steps to do this in the free Publisher manual I've shared in the forum (link is in my signature) in the section titled "To create a named list for global numbering" (it's on page 93 of the 2.3 edition). In a nutshell, set the list name and use the same name for every paragraph that should be numbered in that sequence. You also have to set Restart Numbering to Manual Only. Cheers
  24. You'll find this problem with most fonts. It doesn't affect all, for example Arial is fine, but it affects most.
