Could you offer the details of the MacOS version you are running? (Apple Menu:About this Mac) Also, if you have your mouse (or trackpad) configured for a "secondary click" function, could you right-click on the Affinity .dmg file you have downloaded, choose "Open With" and advise what application shows as "default?"

Gotcha! Being an old "typographer/typesetter" (with a computer...not quite "mature" enough to have run old Linotype machines), the letter pair "kerning" vs text "tracking" is something with which I am most familiar. Was just desiring to confirm the units being used...since if Affinity Publisher becomes useful to me, I'll have to learn to think in thousandths of an EM vs 200ths (QuarkXPRess) of an EM. I had not yet been actually working with a document...just reading through various "help topics where I encountered the following: To loosen spacing in 10% increments, press ... To tighten spacing in 10% decrements, press ... To loosen spacing in 50% increments, press ... To tighten spacing in 50% decrements, press ... I have now looked at the "Character Panel" while editing a document, and clearly see the Tracking and kerning properties displayed as ‰, contrary to what is stated in the help function. Obviously, ‰ would make much more sense, and at least be consistent with Adobe InDesign. Presumably the actual Character Panel displays the correct measurement unit. But perhaps when Affinity support catches up with their backlog someone might respond to confirm the correct unit of measure...given the apparent conflict...and most likely investigate "fixing" the help screen. I have just purchased Affinity Publisher, beginning to learn the application (long-time QuarkXPress user). Am currently trying to understand the Publisher Kern/Track % definition. "Normally" kerning and/or tracking are defined in fractional units (EM space), ie 1/200 in QuarkXPress or 1/1000 in InDesign or 1/54 was typical in many minicomputer-based typesetting environments) based upon the type size in use. Perhaps someone could clarify...is the % amount (10% or 50% increments) defined in Publisher a percentage of a unit (EM) or if not, to what is the percentage referring? Thanks so much. Jeff A
