I found a way to do this on iPad. As you may know, you can create an array of shapes along a path by copying and pasting them in a text field attached to a curve, but this is doable only on the desktop versions of Affinity Designer. This is not possible on the iPad version because the shapes won’t paste in the text field after copying them, but there is a workaround; you will need the file attached to this post, or you can create your own in the desktop version if you have it and then move it to your iPad. In this file you’ll find a text field along a path with pre-pasted shapes that you can keep copying and pasting because they are already in the text field. Since you won’t be able to add different shapes, the shape I added is actually a symbol that you can edit and even see the changes on the path in real time. You can add the shapes you need into the container of the symbol and delete the rest of its content. You will be able to edit the path with the pen tool, add points and modify the distribution of its content. Just copy this items to your file and edit them. Keep this file on your device so you can use it whenever you need this function on your iPad.
Does anyone know a better way to do this anyway?
