  1. Thanks Tomaso. Was looking at the dialog box and missed the setting on the toolbar. Now working.
  2. Hi, I'm trying to draw an old style map with slope indicated by hatching. I'm using a vector layer with the "2B pencil hatch" brush and would like to taper the thickness at the start/end of each line. I just cant figure how to make it's width either with a Wacom pad or pressure map. I can get pressure sensitivity working on pixel brushes, but not on vectors. Pressure settings appear on the Brush edit panel so I assume its supposed to be possible? Can you confirm if it should be possible and any likely issues. Windows 10 Home/Latest. Designer 2.2.1
  3. If there is a chage to upgrade to v2, I hope there is a generous upgrade offer for those who have posted in this forum.
  4. You may get on better with Libre Office. When I last used it for serious work it handled positioning of pictures and tables much better than Word. Ignore the mess it makes of letter spacing on screen. It's related to errors in sub pixel positioning. Looks much better when you print to pdf. I don't think Publisher does footnotes. Hopefully when footnotes are ready in AP, imports from Libre Office will be reasonaby straight forward (no - I dont have any inside information).
  5. I was interested to note that MS Publisher 2019 does not include any footnote/endnote capability.
  6. HI, Thanks for taking this up. I have just created a new project in AP 1.10.0.1127 and there is still a gap (at slightly different place). I have now switched to Hugin which did not have a problem. I am uploading the files again: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vxgodw1np611mo0/360Stitching_bug.zip?dl=0
  7. MP4 is a format. Its commonly used for video. Panasonic use it for 'focus stacks'. For various reasons its more efficient than lots of jpg files.
  8. Hi, Can you add MP4 as an import option for source files for focus merging? Panasonic now use this format for the focus merging and post-focus options in their Micro4/3 cameras. I have attached an example in case you need any test data. P1010128.MP4
  9. Agree this should be a feature in AP Photo. In the mean time, using ffmpeg: (ffmpeg.org) Open terminal/console window. Change directory to where your video file exists. e.g. cd ~/Videos and hit enter. Type ffmpeg -i p110117.mp4 p110117_%d.jpg -hide_banner. Hit enter. Then you'll have all of your individual frames in the same directory as your original video file.
  10. @K2021 Well, you can also try the official Windows 10 fix from microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-the-size-of-text-in-windows-10-1d5830c3-eee3-8eaa-836b-abcc37d99b9a I find "Make everytthing bigger 125%" works wonders on my 22" HD display.
  11. I dont know about sub-pixel, but I find the font on the menu bars very small. I found 'System Font Changer' from this site WinTools.Info - Download Center works for me without messing up too much else on the display. Font size can be attached to a hot key making it easy to change when eyes get tired.
  12. @K2021 your screen res is quite low compared to a 4k uhd screen. If you can find a way to see how it appears on a 4k screen it may make a big improvement. Any chance to try on a work machine or a pc showroom. (I think you can get AFPhoto to run of a usb stick so you would not need to install, or take a notebook to pc world when they are not busy). It may wel help not only for phoro, but other apps. I assume the problem is not limited to photo. @Renzatic it's not really fair to blame Windows. MS work very hard to get the best out of cheap hardware. if you work ona Mac you probably wont see the issue, but for me, my budget excludes that option. One issue is that programmers have so many ways to render text to the screen. WPF has at least four options for programmers (for example this link). Then there are libraries like Xamarin or old school MFC, GDI+ or even GDI. In the case of Afinity their code will be heavily constrsined by the need to support Windows, Windows store, iPads and the Mac. Its a tall order for a limited team on a budget product. Using a high pixel count display to sidestep sub pixel issues is a potential solution thats available now, at modest cost, and without the need to wait for the developers to act.
  13. I'm not related to Affinity, but out of general interest in sub-pixel, could I ask @BigTower and others suffering from sub-pixel effects if they experience similar problems when using 4KUHD and retina displays rather than the more common HD displays. The 4K displays have much smaller (physical) dots on the screen. Although over the past 10 years MS have expended a lot of effort on clear type and made many tweaks, they have also greatly improved font scaling so that many of the issues with type sizes on high resolution displays have now been fixed. There are also various per-application options on the program's compatibility tab (fight click photo.exe and select the compatibility tab, then experiment with the various DPI options.click 'Change High DPI settings.
  14. Good thought - its currently set to 6963MB with 'Automatically manage page file' checked. I guess when I was using the Intel Optane memory it was mapped to the optane disk (32GB) and might have run out of room. I also have 2x 1TB SSD drives with over 200GB free on each so that might explain why I got reproducible crashes with the Optane memory installed, but would not explain the random crashes when it is disabled. I have another photo/panorama application that had issues with openGL because the programmers used an out of date library. This has been resolved for over a year since they updated the 3gl library (may be relevant, they ship d3dcompiler_47.dll version 10.0.17763.132 while you are shipping 6.3.9600.16384) Note that the event logs I sent in my last post were taken after I had uninstalled the Optane memory. I have noticed AFPhoto is quite heavy on memory compared to eg Kolor Autopano Pro.
  15. Hi, I have done some more experiments, most significant is uninstall & remove Intel optane memory. I still get application crash, but it is not reproducible. My feeling is the problem is memory related in some way. I dont get crashes when processing smaller JPG or 8 bit tif's. I have made a screen recording of a recent crash while task manager shows memory consumption. Note the available memory gets very low shortly before the crash. The crash happens about 2.40 into the video (0952 computer time). Screen goes blank, computer sounds a couple of soft beeps and then screen starts to recover. One thing I have noticed is that switching between apps while Photo is processing the panorama tends to increase the probability of a crash. I have run Windows memory test utility and no problems with memory. I have a couple of other observations, but I'd like to get the crash sorted first. Thanks for taking this up. Sorry - wrong video. 16. APhoto: 1.9.2.1035 I was going to have a look for a beta tomorrow. I think I saw somewhere there was a beta tackeling the problems with OpenGL. I beg to differ (based on 5 years on a support desk for a Windows product and as a developer). PS If you have time and could look at my post: Stitching problems in 360 panorama, I suspect its a bug rather than finger trouble. Great product, beats the pants off PSP. Cant wait for DAM (once footnotes in Publisher are fixed)!
  17. Hi, Photo 1.9.2 consistently freezes when stitching panoramas from 16 bit TIFF files with GPU acceleration. Occasionally I get a blue screen with SYSTEM_PTE_MISUSE error. Seems OK with no GPU acceleration. Its also faster with no GPU acceleration so I'm happy at the moment. Details below: Files exported from Lightroom 6 classic as uncompressed TIFF. 18. Hi, I'm new to AF Photo, so this may be my ignorance. I'm trying to make a 360 cylindrical panorama (ie 360 horizontal x 120 vertical) from 12 portriat photographs taken with an 18mm (35 equivalent) lens. There is plenty of overlap and AF Photo appears to make a good job of stitching most of the pictures. Unfortulanely a stitching error is causing a gap which is preventing the full 360 wrap. If you look in the screenshot I have marked corresponding points on both sides of the gap. The pictures are taken with a tripod, level and the sun was overcast so no problems with moving shadows. It looks like AF it not giving enough freedom to the exact focal length to allow a proper wrapping. Full set of files here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/a51tokbtyw1l8xb/AADaIJ7YsX6SFfvk6w6k60w5a?dl=0 AF Photo 1.9.2.1035 Edition Windows 10 Home Version 20H2 Installed on ‎17/‎06/‎2020 OS build 19042.906 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0 Any suggestions? Thanks
  19. Perhaps not directly relevant, but i found this article by Lightroom expert Martin Evening comparing Lightroom and Capture one very helpful in understand why different raw procesors give different results http://4bcokm12bvu948gi7312gnab-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/Lightroom vs Capture One Pro.pdf
  20. Since Windows Vista, programs intended for use by all users should be installed under Program Files, Program Files (x86) or Windows folders. Its a Microsoft thing intended to reduce the damage viruses can cause. These locations give the files and programs special permissions. If you were able to install in other locations it is likely you will see strange behaviour. For more details read up on user account contrl, but it gets very technical very quickly. If you are looking to use another location because you are short of disk space, it would be better to free up space by moving My Documents/Music/Photographs to anotger drive and running the Windows 10 disk space utility. If thats not eneough it may be time to consider a larger C: drive.
  21. I'm new to publisher so I may have missed something, but there are a couple of function keys shortcuts I use all the time in MS Windows products and cant find equivalent F1 - context sensitive help F4 - repeat previous edit action (eg to repeat apply style to various paragraphs) Thanks for a great product.
  22. Given these were a feature in Pageplus x6, would Affinity consider including a complimentary licence to their legacy products with a purchase of the until the new product? I am in the position that I have x6 on my very old laptop but cant transfer it to a new computer because I can't download it. In short i'm stuffed.
  23. Sorry, my fault. Haven been using PagePlus and did not realise Publisher does not do footnotes yet. ☹️ Perhaps the bug is that styles should not get messed up.
  24. When importing text containg footnotes from MS Word 2010 via clipboard, the footnotes are lost and paragraph styles in document get messed up. Windows 10 Pro, 20H2 Publisher 1.9 MS Word 2010 Reproducible To reproduce: Create document in MS Word containg some footnotes. Create blank document in Publisher with a text frame. In Word <ctrl>+A to select all text In Publishet <Ctrl>V to paste text. Note that footnotes are missing and some of the paragraphs have been formatted as 'footnote text'. I would expect the footnotes to be imported along with their styles. ImportTestFromPublisher.afpub Import test for Publisher.docx
