I think that is the thing, they would pay a little more but not really a lot more. If money was not an issue they would be using Adobe as it does what they need it to do. I also think people attack Adobe subscription model a little unfairly. If you are a pro user making money on the software the price is easily affordable. You should be making way more profit then what the monthly subscription fee is a month, if not I think your business probably has other problems beyond the price of software.

Not sure why you are using all caps. That is used when SHOUTING in a forum such as this. You are asking for the developers to stop and add the things you specifically want. I do think that is asking a lot. You and everyone else has ideas on what should be added, affinity has their own road map. The Affinity app are incredibly cheap for what you are getting in their current state. In time I am sure they will address all the things you impatiently want now.

Please Lightroom Replacement!

They will have seen this thread so they will know there are a few people interested in it. I think their priority is the 3 Apps on the 3 OS's they currently have out. -
Lots of Linux threads already, not sure why this needed a new one.

Indesign Complex Document
wonderings replied to Fipo's topic in Feedback for the V1 Affinity Suite of Products
I am assuming you are talking about an IDML file not an INDD file. They did add this ability though I would use it with caution. It is not going to open Indesign files perfectly and you should remain vigilant in double checking all content and artwork that was set in Indesign and is now open in Publisher. It is also not recommended to use this in feature with a collaborative work flow as again you are going to have changes opening in Publisher over how it was originally set in Indesign. -
Affinity app icons

Can you adjust the UI colour at least on all 3? I work on a Mac and they have this nice feature called "Spaces". It is basically like having a multi monitor setup with one screen. I have Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Mail all in their own space. So I move between spaces depending on what app I need to work on. It never gets cluttered as they have their own space. Not sure if there is anything similar for Windows, I find it very helpful. -
Affinity app icons

Exactly. The brain processes this far quicker then the icon image details. Would be a horrible if they were all the same colour but had slight variations to the graphics, now that would be confusing. They did follow a similar colour scheme to Adobe but moved the colours around which in turns makes it a little confusing when I quickly want to select an Affinity app. -

they are, not sure what the issue is. I can see maybe forgetting if you buy all 3 at once but it should not take long for the mind to associat the 3 colours with the 3 apps. -
Does the PDF I uploaded not show 100% K as well or only the publisher file? If my PDF is fine for you then I still think there is a setting somewhere before exporting. I completely agree this is an Affinity problem, lots of people having this issue and this should not be complicated. I never even think about this and never have issues with any RIP I use, any outsourcing printer I use or internally for digital or offset. I just went through this again, downloaded my original publisher file from the post above. Opened it, exported as PDF and opened in Acrobat DC. Black is 100% K

3D Modelling
wonderings replied to Mark Robinson's topic in Feedback for the V1 Affinity Suite of Products
Not sure I understand, how can existing apps for 3D modelling be poor compared to the Affinity Apps that are not made for 3D modelling? I have a 3D printer that I toy around with, have not gotten into creating my own models yet but eventually will get into that. It seems like there is already a lot of options for 3D creation. -
Affinity for Linux
wonderings replied to kirov's topic in Feedback for the V1 Affinity Suite of Products
Where are all the people on this forum? 140 votes is only like 47 people. With the size of the Linux threads I assumed that this would have happened in a day. Guess they are probably not active in the community here. -
You don't really setup presentations like you do in PowerPoint and Keynote in ProPresenter do you? I remember looking at it years ago and it seems its main function is churches and displaying music that can be catalogued and quickly added without setup each time. Unless it has changed since I looked at it years ago, you did not do individual setups. It had a powerpoint viewer in it for displaying powerpoint, but again not setting it up.

I would say there will eventually be optimization and native support for M1, unless of course they plan to stop developing for Mac OS, which I doubt. You are an early adopter to a new CPU from Apple, you are going to have to expect some draw backs for the moment I think. I believe Affinity like other apps are running in a sort of emulation, though I could be wrong about that. That being said I am not sure what you are describing is normal with the new chip. Hopefully someone else with an M1 chip can confirm similar performance, and if not then I would probably try a clean install, wiping everything away and reinstalling the app and see if that helps.

Application File Sizes
wonderings replied to Brian May's topic in Feedback for the V1 Affinity Suite of Products
What do you mean Macs are notoriously short on real estate? Or are you just referring to the exorbitant prices for hard drives 512 gigs and up? -
Not sure if this will help but most likely it should be something like this MacintoshHD>Users>your username>Documents>
- 3 replies

- publisher 1.9
- data merge source file

market potential for a free application? As you have said Acrobat Reader is free, and there are other options on top of that. I also do not think Affinity is big enough at the moment to need a reader to see Affinity files without editing them, not sure why you would even want that or what the purpose would be.

Affinity for Linux
wonderings replied to kirov's topic in Feedback for the V1 Affinity Suite of Products
I am not saying the community is judged by the size of a forum thread, just that it might be an indication when you can only get 70 posts in about 4 days. And those 70 posts each person can vote 3 times. I remember when Steve Jobs turned Apple around, the community was vibrant and passionate and something like this would have taken minutes to get 70 votes on something that is seemingly needed and demanded for Linux. I am assuming people just do not know about this option to vote on Wine and most people are content with how things they are working as is. Why then are people still asking and looking for solutions when Serif said they would not be releasing a Linux version anytime soon? You have your answer and people still want to make it work. Good on them and I hope they can get something sorted for Wine that will be usable. I don't think it makes sense on Serifs end to drop a lot of time or resources into this but if people want to make it work I say best of luck! -
Affinity for Linux
wonderings replied to kirov's topic in Feedback for the V1 Affinity Suite of Products
Nothing against getting this to work with Wine, but is the community that small or does it just not reach that many people? 400 votes seems like it should be easy if there really was a large group of people wanting Affinity on Linux. The 400+ number is even smaller when you consider you can vote 3 times. So really like 140 people voting for something. With the amount of posts and threads on Linux I would think you would blow everything else out of the water with votes. -
what PDF settings are you using? I really wish they would simplify this, not sure why Affinity apps have these issues. You should be able to setup in CMYK in Publisher, or any Affinity app and output the PDF with the same results. I never have this issue with Indesign or Illustrator, I think they have over complicated something that should be very simple.
