Lots of confusion and issues exporting PDF's and retaining the colour your file is set in, particularly with K and keeping it 100%K and not converting to a CMYK black.
Can you post screen shots of your PDF export settings?

If I am understanding correctly I believe the same thing happens in Indesign as well. Honestly not sure why it matters if you are manually typing in the page size. Personally I go with the "Legacy New Document" window in Adobe, prefer the simplicity of the layout and having everything I need right there.

I think you would want 2 different PDF formats, one for archival and one for print.
The Iridesse will print the metallics but not specific pantone metallics. You basically have silver and gold. Looked at that press a few years ago, did not fit our needs and the metallic is a niche market that we would not make our returns with on that unit. If the print intent is to use metallic from a digital press like the Iridesse or from the other competitors like Ricoh, Konica, Kodak, etc, your best bet would be to connect with a printer who can do this and find out what spot names are needed for the colours themselves. You would not need any specific PDF format for this if it is CMYK + Spots. In Indesign I would generally use High Quality PDF's or X4. Colours are maintained, including spots/pantones.

To me, maybe I am wrong, PDF is a file type which is very useful for conserving a complete document that might include one or more images (if any) but from which extracting an image can either be awkward or impossible. o me a PDF is good for putting on the web, good to send to a print establishment to get a print or prints, but, and maybe I am wrong on this, essentially write-only memory.
I know that one can read a PDF into some applications. I have only ever tried it a few times when there seemed no alternative available, but it often needed some sort of bodging to get what I wanted.

I have known the word to be used in the sense of put together as best one can in the circumstances. For example, in Apollo thirteen, one could say that the improvised system that was put together was "bodged together". A peculiar looking result, but it saved them.
As in, for example, "I bodged it together with some Araldite."
The meaning that Lexico gives seems to me to be more like the meaning of "botched".

Really not sure what you are asking. PNG will not retain pantones, nor will bmp or jpg. PDF is a great option and a standard and will retain your colours if the file is setup properly from wherever you make it. Not sure why you want to avoid PDF. Also not sure why you want to use a pantone colour if it is not for print, no screen is going to view the pantone alike so if it is for digital use they are all going to display it differently. Again if PDF's made properly from a vector program or publishing program are great, and can be edited if need be later, though easiest is always the original program that created it.
What is your intended use for the image you want to save with a pantone? Is it for print? For web?

IDML files are Indesign files that are able to work in older versions of Indesign and can be opened in Publisher as well, though not always with a perfect conversion. So this is a page layout format, DOCX is a word processing format, completely different.

I am lost to why you would want to edit this outside of Publisher if you set the project up in Publisher? Why would you correct in another application when you can correct in Publisher?
That being said Indesign does let you save a preflight report but it does not give specifics for spelling errors. Indesign works in the same was as Publisher does in this regard, double click on the issue in the preflight tab and you are brought directly to the issue so you can correct.

I would agree if the logo is ever going to be used for print. We get a lot of people who come in and want to print envelopes or other basic stationary. Their logo was designed by someone in Photoshop with no real understanding of design and designing for a medium. You want to be able to affordably print your logo. Generally this means a 2 colour logo, be it 2 pantones or one pantone + K. The other option is that the logo looks good converted to 1 colour black/grayscale. Printing 4 colour over 2 colour or 1 colour black is expensive and many business have had us fix up or redesign their logos so they would work for their various needs at affordable prices.

I can answer your question regarding font support for Indian languages. If it is something you need and it is not supported by Publisher then Publisher is not the app for you at the moment. You should always test the software out before buying and if something is so crucial then it should not be purchased as it does not do what you need it to do.

yes you can definitely use Pantones in Designer.
First thing you want to open the Swatch panel, then in there click the pull down menu and select the colour book you want to use. If you are using this for print on paper you would want Formula Guide Solid Coated or Uncoated. Now just select the colour you want to use.

First question is how was the PDF made originally? Not all PDF's are going to open and be editable properly in Publisher. Can you supply a screen shot of the first page in a PDF viewer so we can compare to the screen shot taken from Publisher? Publisher is not going to be a perfect PDF editor. Lots can go wrong and wonky with your files. An example, if you don't have the fonts embedded in the PDF they will be substituted in Publisher if importuning to edit.

If they have people who know what they are doing they could rip apart a PDF and put things back together if really needed. That being said why not just ask them what changes are needed and make the changes yourself? It is your design and I am assuming they do not own the rights to your design. Another simple option as Mike pointed out is for them to get Publisher. They would not even need to buy it, they could simple get a 30 day demo and make changes themselves. I never use Publisher but I can still muddle through when I test or check something in it.

I think one of the mods on here is a Linux user as well and has commented in this thread. They are in it to make money, yes there could be money in it but there could also not be money in it to be worth the effort. End of the day it is their capital that people want them to play with.

Not sure anyone here is against a Linux version, what I think people like myself argue is that it may not be a good business idea for Serif to go down that route at the moment. It is also not just some easy thing to jump into and just start raking in the money. Sure you could go and block anyone who disagrees with you but I would say that is a sad way to live your life, only allowing things in that you agree with already. Are you not open to hearing other view points and either strengthening your own or changing based on something that may actually make sense?
I think the more options for consumers the better, so in this I would say it would be great if Linux users had an option. For a business I am not sure it is worth it at this stage for all the reasons that have been listed by others who you would throw into the "troll" category. Civil discourse can be had and is incredibly healthy. What is not healthy is again blocking out any opposing views.

I think what you said and requested is way out there. It is easy to coach a team from your couch, everyone knows what plays should be made and done. Of course this is just you on a couch with no skin in the game. You are certainly free to put your thoughts out there, I would not deny that of anyone or say you should not, but don't expect people to agree with you and then get upset when people disagree with you.

Is your GF's computer Windows? If one is Mac and one Windows it will not work. But if you are both running Win 10, the same version or a supportive version it should work.

You can use on an unlimited number of computers as long as it is your computer for your work. I am not sure of the legality with putting it on your gf's computer for your own use there. I am sure someone else will chime in with a more accurate answer. Short and easy you can use your license key on another computer with no issue. It not being your computer but for your use I am unsure about.

In Indesign you would select an option for multiple records per page for data merge. I tried searching for this feature in Publisher but do not think it is there. I think I remember reading about the lack of feature in another thread but I could be mistaken.
How are you printing these? If printing on a digital press the RIP may have an imposition feature and you could impose from 1 up files.

Did you want the black key line around the text? If not then what I do to remove the path is simply turn the stroke colour off. I have attached a screen shot.

It might be an issue with how you buy and download the software. There are 4 different stores to buy from, Apple App Store, Mac App Store, Windows App store and directly from Serif. Also you do not have to update, if the software does what you need it to do then just skip updating till you feel like doing it. All the apps you listed are very different from the Affinity apps again because of the options of buying and downloading the software.

I would like to think that as well. Now there is a big divide. I am a pro user but I do not need a Mac Pro, the power is way over the top for my needs and I would say most pro users needs. Sure would love to have a $70 K computer loaded to the hilt with all the best of the best Apple has to offer, the reality is though it would take me ages to make that back for it to pay for itself when with less I can make the same and pay off the hardware faster. They seem to think they are hitting the pro market by targeting a niche segment of it.

One of the unfortunate things about the current Apple leadership is their obsession with dumbing down professional grade software to the minimum level suitable only for use on Instagram, etc.
I can't see either Apple or Serif Europe developing a replacement for Aperture so alternatives include DigiKam, ACDSee Photo Studio and Lightroom Classic standalone. Some people have also had success in using Retroactive to get Aperture running on Big Sur on Intel Macs.
I think the issue with Apple now is lack of leadership and vision. Steve Jobs had a gift for seeing the possibilities and making it happen using talented people. Apple no longer has that which has put the company out of balance. It was once beautiful balanced between design and function, now it is tilted too far to the design while ignoring function.
Same issue, PDF Export not good.

As do I, though I do not use Affinity for my work I stick with Adobe as it works and gets the job done. No time to figure this out on live jobs.
I do not see anything out of order, looks like all the settings I would set. Are you able to upload the file or an example of a file that is fine in Publisher but exports incorrectly to PDF?
